Same for all things though (armor (stats), stat allocation, spell order). I havent tried WoW's new talent system but it looks interesting, a little more argument on builds at least when I first checked.. lol

D3's isnt too bad (you HAVE to play to inferno to actually care about builds, otherwise its like w.e lol). There are still a limited builds in D3 but there are some I've never seen in an mo game before.. Which is pretty interesting.

    It's pretty basic now.

Every 15 levels you get 1 talent point. Each tier (15, 30, 45, etc.) has three talents you can pick from.

This is much better than the one before, where you had to dump X amount of points in a tree to get to the bottom.

While I suppose it's OK to use WoW for some inspiration, I think the concern of WoW's influence on ARR is valid. I haven't heard alot lately, but awhile back Yoshi repeatedly mentioned using examples from WoW, and even meeting with their dev team (at some conference he went to iirc).

Alot of ideas in this thread try to piggyback on WoW's success, suggesting that is a good reason to copy them.. In fact, that is the reason WoW shouldn't be copied. None of those WoW clones out there came anywhere near close to WoW's success, and most failed miserably. The gaming world DOES NOT want another WoW, just on steriods.. Many companies have been trying to do just that which has been killing their own success. We can already see WoW elements incorporated into ARR which is fine, as long as they can completely avoid that WoW 'feel'. After launch, the second this game gets viably gets labeled as FF:The WoW Clone, it's doomed. Fortuanetly, from what I can see so far, they're doing a good enough job at keeping original FF elements in the game and staying away from being infused with more of the same WoW-style gameplay. Though I guess I'll know a little more when I get to experience Beta.

According to your Lodestone history, you made your character on September 23, 2010...which was launch day. Saying that World of Warcraft has no polish is absurd, especially since you only gave the game a chance on the free 10-day trial. Final Fantasy XIV was terrible at launch, yet you were totally fine playing that. You can't talk about games with no polish when you were fine playing XIV for months.

Just say "I don't want to like World of Warcraft because it's not Final Fantasy." It would at least make you sound like you know what you're talking about.
    You nailed it dude! Bravo!

in the end, if you are having fun, do you still care whether it is a clone or not?

I can give you a sample of the opposite....a game that very original...but very broken in the mechanics....

I dunno. I've played various MMOs, put the most time(7 years) into FFXI, and the second-most(2 years) into Aion and I never really cared about "WoW clones" or such. FFXI was terrible for a new player, especially in the later years, unless you had friends that could hook you up.
Most people are just blinded by nostalgia, looking back on the "good ol days" and not remembering the 16-hour spans of nobody but you and the random DRG/MNK or THF/RDM LFP. Some of my best times were had in Vana'Diel, but it's time for a new experience, copy-pasting from it would not serve the purpose people think it would. Are there some things I'd like to see? I suppose. But I honestly think I'll be fine with 2.0 at least. Either way it'll probably be the last MMO I play. Don't have the time like I used to for enjoying MMOs.

ffxi was not for the anti social, you either joined a linkshell and communicated with the community or you suffered long hours of solo play. the longest ive ever waited for a party was 2 hours with SAM in dunes the rest of the time i could get a party in 30 minutes or less. XIV v1 was a far worse experience when it came to partying, mostly do to the piss poor attitude of the community and elitism.

I agree, it was bad in XIV 1.0, but I'm talking past the higher ranges. This would have been pre-TAU, and I remember spending all night and most of the morning trying to get a party built. /sea all whm 50-55 and all that, only to find 1 online and already in a party, /sea all rdm, blm, smn, hell even throw in 2 more plds haha, nobody'd be on. Granted, this was a weekday, so most people had school, or worked during the days. Then the weekend comes, and the first 5 camps you can think of are filled to the brim with people. I'm just looking forward to more methods of exp other than "wait for a group, go find some desolate corner of the world with robber crabs, and hope nobody camps on top of you."

Alot of people here should be banned of forum ..i feel like we are getting push to like WOW ... we have our on choice to choose which game we like. If we prefer Final fantasy graphic and style and hate WOW its our damn choice. dont push us to go play WOW and stop talking about it. Go talk about it or compare it on a MMosite forums that forum talk about all games
but this forum is about Final fantasy
we don't care if you still play wow. we still wont even if some engine is the same as Final fantasy. are you guy paid by blizzard to find new player in other game forum by keeping talking of wow and that its a clone of wow ?????
come on we don't care we are final fantasy fans not wow

P.S the comment 5 years old could draw that ..it was an expression you never heard of that of course a 5 years old cant make that.but its just a way of say its really bad

Fixed. Don't even fucking try telling me that I'm wrong either. Because you try being a Dragoon before Abyssea. Try being a Red Mage after Abyssea. Try doing content in FFXI now without having an Empyrean. Hell, try shouting for assistance on a mission or a quest. At least in XIV you'll get more than one person to try to join you.

If FFXIV is full of elitism and piss poor attitudes, XI is 10x worse.
