This isn't EXACTLY true, but it can be in some ways. In FFXI the content couldn't really be "Burned through" in such a speed that you'd have to wait MONTHS(3-6) for them to actually add stuff, however in this game it seems to be the trend for things. Content should last longer than it takes to make, and that isn't very difficult to do as we saw in FFXI.

a true hardcore doesnt stop once hes done every bit of content, they dont stop until theyve done every aspect of the gamne itself(which includes leveling every job to cap)

some of us are doing the leveling now, and doing the content later
and we will still enjoy thinmgs even then as we have our friends and shells to do stuff with

Being a long time FFXI player, I can relate to what you are saying, but you're really over polarizing this issue. We really need to squish this hardcore vs. casual thing. Anyways, there is another thread dedicated to that topic so I'm not going to reiterate here.

I wanted to comment on the above. This is nothing more than a poor assumption.

Back when I played FFXI in 2003, my first MMO, I didn't know what a "casual" was, I didn't know what a "hardcore" was. No one ever spoke of such things. Game devs made content, and we all just played and had fun. I miss those days.

Then maybe what the conflict really is, is that hardcores will burn through what a casual would be satisfied with, and casuals will never get through what a hardcore is satisfied with. Speaking strictly in terms of playtime and not difficulty.

But as many have pointed out, I don't see why the game can't support both.

Agreed, hopefully the instanced content coming next month remedies that.

    Stopped reading right here.

I do not agree neither with a full-casual game, or with 5min NM repops, but this game was announced as a casual game since we first heard about it. I knew this game would probably have the bar a little lower than I wanted, but I chose to play regardless.

The only entitlement in these forums comes from the so-called hardcore players, who joined the wrong game, and now want it reshaped for them. You are not the main target. You never were, and this isn't changing. Just get out now.

You guys were told this game was going to be for casuals and for people who wanted to advance without playing much since the very beginning. The fact that you joined when you were in such disagreement with the direction you were told the game was made with makes you either really dumb or oblivious to the media (which doesn't make you any less dumb, should read about what you buy).

All of you people who act like FFs were anything like FFXI should just get the fuck out aswell. FFXI was the way it was because it was made to copy the giant MMO back in the day, which was Everquest. Has nothing to do with FF roots, and in fact the saga has only gotten easier since the FF NES titles barring optional bosses in some installments. Try replaying any of them now that you don't have the intelligence of a 10 year old (literally), it'll blow your mind.

The reason I brought this up is because this game is also directed at the FF player (or will be at some point, rather), someone different than the FFXI player. You are not the FF players they're aiming for, deal with it.

In before any of you try to argue that this game failed because it catered to casual gamers (which wasn't even true when the game came out). Preemptive fucking lol.

    BS.

"Hard core" players had the first add-on scenarios done in a day. They always burn through the newest content as fast as possible except when that content is artificially limited. Examples include: Relic weapons via currency, limbus and dynamis via entry restrictions, and Absolute Virtue to give the dev team a chuckle.

Every time one single update comes out that doesn't have content someone wants in it the game is coming to an end.

lol such a wall of text / discussion / fights for such a simple thing.

no one is asking for impossible drops, or camping 24/7.

casual or hardcore, i don't really give a f**k. I just want challenging fights/content to make the game fun, and atm there isn't any challenge IMHO.
