Sorry for being such a bad sport.

But don't pity me. I'm actually a pretty balanced and quiet person who happens to be really passionate about a few things.

I love people who can apologize / move on. I mean everyone has something to get hot over but letting the heat go is also good.

I'm also pretty sad panda about not getting in but hey we got the 5th , and then the 7th and then 9th .. (until they stop alpha) lol. If all else fails everyone rerolls to get into beta and there will be a lot more there :P

They said the same about people that don't have an active account.

'Active account' is different than current player.
Active account is someone that has registered FFXIV to their Square enix account, current player = someone who is paying for a subscription... Atleast that's how I read it, and how it's seemed to play out :x

It makes /no/ sense to pull up people for alpha that can't physically run the game, pulling people that can play it and haven't paid for xiv in a while is totally different :x

Do not worry yourself over it, I feel you and I know it sucks not getting picked. It's nothing personal, invites will go to whom they will. I'm sure you'll get picked at some point D: so until then use this time to get fat on marshmallows, make towel art, learn to cook or do anything that'll take your mind off it^^

That excuse has already been debunked long ago Nix, while some people continue to repeat it like a mantra to hide what's obviously a rather large mistake.

For several weeks after the alpha registration process started whoever tried to register to the alpha with a lapsed account got bounced with a (I paraphrase) "Your account is not active, piss off".

After a while, no one knows precisely when, it started accepting them.

So either you think Square Enix suddenly changed its collective mind about what "active" means (which is also the industry standard for P2P MMORPGs. It's not open to interpretation, it's equivalent to "Current player" period) and didn't even think to communicate this sudden and mysterious change of heart, or "active" simply means what it should and what does everywhere in the industry (Current Player), and allowing access to those with lapsed account was a very unfortunate (and just a tad unfair) mistake.

Honeslty I don't know what to think @_@ haha, my husband was able to apply with an unpaid account, but to be honest I was never really that bothered that they accepted people with unpaid accounts, it's just one of those things D: and me getting bent out of shape won't fix it.

If it was a rather large mistake, then SE certainly is a bit silly for allowing it to take place, but me getting mad won't reverse the situation .

I just hope that more people that really want to test get accepted into alpha so there's a lot fewer hurt feelings on these forums
