No having your own head up your ass told you that. Classes are going somewhere, but we just don't know where yet. Have you even read any of my posts in this thread? Seems to me you like the look of your own typing too much to have a sensible debate.
You tell someone they have their "head up their ass", and then preach to them about their inability to have a sensible debate?

Another lazy/angry person who hasn't read any of my posts on this subject...
Oh wait I'm so sorry for remaining impartial about classes until I have played the beta, how wrong of me. I mean how dare I do or say anything that is not saying SE is wonderful in every way, I forgot FFXIV was fine and didn't need rebuilding from the ground up, how could I have overlooked its absolute perfection!
lol The point of what I posted was not to debate with you, it was to tell you to calm down. Telling someone they have their "head up their ass" is a bit much, don't you think? You really need to chill.Another lazy/angry person who hasn't read any of my posts on this subject...

No, I think its really quite polite and appropriate considering that persons blinkered attitude. If ya don't tell em how it is they just keep on QQ and end up a spoiled brat.
Sorry if I annoyed you though, I hate to annoy a lala they go all tough and chewy when cooked.

Oh goodness, hear who's talking. The one that thinks he's entitled to call others whiners, crybabies and other unflattering adjectives.
While Thebard should indeed tone it down, you're hardly one to talk. Does it burn when you're on the receiving end?
Back to the thread at hand. No.
Classes are for soloing/flexibility, jobs are for party/specialization. The system gives the best of both worlds and there's no reason to change it.
Besides, a large part of the lore is already written over the existence of classes.

Gutting the lore of the story is not an answer. Arcanist and carbuncle says classes are going nowhere. The main site's pages on classes says they are going nowhere. Achievements and quests that are still attainable says classes are going nowhere.
And they all have lore explaining the events of the world around their cities, and also a starting point to the adventurer's story. Whole npc lives and organizations are built around the guilds.
To put the adventurer as independent of all this makes them an alien instead of a resident. Some anomaly of the game world that is detached from its society and lore. That's not you get investment into a character's story.
Now can your insinuations.
I think I get what you're saying. Classes do have a lot to do with the story. Changing all that would mean rebuilldng an already established lore from the ground up. Still, I wonder if there's a way to do all this and everyone get what they want. Probably not, lol. I think the FFT job suggestion was interesting, though...You're not very good at this humor thing are you? Don't dish it out if you cant take it.
