Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you're chewing on life's gristle
    Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best...

And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...

    If life seems jolly rotten
    There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps
    Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle - that's the thing.

And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...

    For life is quite absurd
    And death's the final word
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin - give the audience a grin
Enjoy it - it's your last chance anyhow.

So always look on the bright side of death
Just before you draw your terminal breath

    Life's a piece of shit
    When you look at it
    Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true.
    You'll see it's all a show
Keep 'em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.

And always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the right side of life...
    (Come on guys, cheer up!)
Always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the bright side of life...
(Worse things happen at sea, you know.)
Always look on the bright side of life...
(I mean - what have you got to lose?)
(You know, you come from nothing - you're going back to nothing.
    What have you lost? Nothing!)
Always look on the right side of life...

"Thy life is a river to bear rapture and sorrow
To listen to suffer to entrust until tomorrow
In one fleeting moment, from the land doth life flow
Yet in one fleeting moment for the new leaf doth grow"

I thought it was clear that legacy members wouldn't get special treatment for alpha pick. No rule broken. Heck it's practically spelled out in the Alpha signup section.

And if you don't have a legacy account (and don't take this the wrong way if this is the case for any of you) how much say do you have when you complain you weren't chosen above someone who quit long ago? Both types 'abandoned' this game when the subscriptions started up for long enough that they missed the opportunity.

It's also spelled out in the alpha testing application that only those with an active account are eligible to apply.

Which is exactly the issue you seem to be missing.

A lot of say. Those that came back definitely have shown more interest and dedication in the game than those that left and never came back. It's a rather ironclad equation.

I know many of us are very upset about not getting invites, myself included. I see many of you are up in arms about people that only played less than a month or so got into the alpha. A buddy of mine who played the game for about a week got in.

IMO, I feel that these people may be the best choice to be testers. A good sum of us, who are big fans of the game already, have less MMO experience than say someone who quit the game right away. I can say for myself the only other MMO I have played was FFxi.

My buddy, who quit FFxiv right away and got into the alpha, has played many different MMOs WoW, STOR, FFxi, Guild Wars. to name a few. I think people like him who quit right away have played more MMOs than the rest of us and therefor had more to compare FFxiv to.

So in a way these types of people will be the hardest to impress and would be the biggest critics of the game and therefor offer some of the best opinions to make the game better.

Please note: I know not every FFxiv player is like myself and has little MMO experience. But I know a part of the fan base is like. That's why that statement was made. Don't rage on me for that :P Good luck for the next phase of alpha testing!

So is SEs definition of an active Final Fantasy XIV account someone who at any time bought a copy of FFXIV and registered it on their account. Doesn't matter how long they played it or were currently playing it when they signed up for Alpha?

I guess it's technically still active. But if they din't play, Square will ask for more to play so I'm not really concerned about it.

So basically what you're saying is that it's safe to assume (even though the assumption is 100% blind) that people who quit earlier than the rest of us and did NOTHING for the game at all are better testers because they all have more second-hand knowledge of MMOs?

Even if their other MMO experience is with the BAD games that you listed?

And that we should largely leave the future of EVERYONE's FFXIV: A Realm Reborn to people who did nothing to bring about it's creation in the first place, and allow them to infest it with features and suggestions brought from really bad, overhyped and done-up games?

That's some country-ass-bull**** right there, sir.

To be honest I wouldn't be able to participate more than 3, maybe 4 hous per day this month, but still unfair that some have the will to find time and contribute to testing and didn't get it, while others got it and may not take part at all.
