Reason why he is torn between Viera and something more brute-ish like a reptile is because Viera are too close to humans and he wanted to introduce something more beast-like. Also, Viera has only appeared as female so far... and he doesn't want to have a gender-locked race... [read: do you seriously want to see bunnyGUYS?!]

I think the viera race is pushing the fan service a bit imo... mithras/miqo'tes were fan-servicy from the start.. I mean, a sexy girl with cat ears and a tail?? The same for the vieras...like omg totally hot girl with bunny ears and tail /playboybunnymode

Male miqotes are probably a more realistic option now since "mithra" has been around for years in XI, and the fan-service appeal has worn off somewhat. I'm not opposed to adding both genders of any race, but I dunno...a male bunny atm comes off as trying too hard lol.

Maybe if they reworked the design a little bit so they seemed more animal like (like how mithras were in XI, brown nosed vs human nose)
