With that in mind I liked everything I read except for the plans for housing. I understand his desire to build community but having someone else in control of my private space, no matter how small,is a complete turn off for me. Do not get me wrong, I enjoy the overall community aspects of MMOs but even here I want a place I can retreat to without worrying about how it will effect others or how others will effect me. I will, of course, wait to see how it is implemented in game but as it stands right now I have no plans to participate in housing til private residences are available, no matter how long it takes.

Yeah there's more stuff since they were actually able to translate everything, instead of doing it on the fly during a live broadcast lol

I dunno, for me the idea of a shared house sounds fun. I mean, you could always shack up in your inn and heck the bed every so often if you want some private time...though you wouldn't be able to craft or anything like that :/

Very good info there.

I suspected there was a lot more than was being translated during the live broadcast. Yoshi-P would be talking for like a minute straight, and there would be maybe one short paragraph of translated text for it, as well as long periods where nothing was prompted to the screen at all. So, I figured there was going to be a lot more added when we got the official translation.

In particular.. I have a feeling this bit here is going to make some folks around here particularly happy:
"I felt that if we can’t make something that I can at least enjoy as a gamer, it’s...I mean, even if it’s just alpha stress testing, if we don’t provide that level of quality to our customers, then it’s no good. I made that clear to the team. And so we’ve refined the alpha version to this point and will approach the beta with the same attitude."

Translating into English isn't straight-forward. When you see that something doesn't make sense in English you go back and add in nuances. What seemed bare and confusing at first becomes expanded in better translations.

Note that some info is quite different in the new translation. I think they went back and said ... What did he mean? and filled in the details.

At first, my opinion was the same as yours when reading about the housing section. But then I was thinking that it could turn out to be fun IF the house works like a big dorm. Like have some rooms be something that every player can touch and customize. But inside the house, there are separate rooms, like the moghouse of FFXI. And have that room, only be meant for 1 player to sleep in and allow full customization over it. With also the option to allow people to come in or not.

If it's something like that, then sign me up for it. But I'd still like some personal full house. Even if it is a small one to call my own.
