    Also, deciding what song to sing takes 5 seconds and you do it before the battle begins. Then its the same refreshing over and over.
    This is the problem with XIV's BRD. Whilst in XI at later levels you stuck to marches, ballads and minuets, early on you had to use a multitude of different songs to maintain your group.

    As well as the multiple debuff songs like elegies, lullabies and requiems.

    Being proactive was the sign of a good BRD in XI. I want the same option here.

    Being a good BRD was rewarding in XI. You saw your groups performance go through the roof, you didn't have to be the hurr durr meathead DD.

    Madrigal stopped mattering once accuracy foods became plentiful and beyond the scope of sushi. Paeon was meh, especially considering the two-song limit. Minne = loldefense. Carols were a waste of a song slot, specially considering how resistances worked in FFXI. The list continues. Bard had horribly cluttered ability lists.

    Keep in mind that XI gave birth to the princess bard. You may have been in the minority that liked the job as it was, but I think preventing a second coming of the princess bard (or its cousin, the princess red mage) is a tad more important.

    Now now. Pansy-wansies that without game mechanics would not contribute anything to the fight should not be throwing stones...

    Backlogs aside, if you want new songs, I would recommend a second category of songs that cost no resouces but have cooldowns. The effects would be more for burst phases due to the songs having short durations. Maybe a song that lasts 20 seconds but increases the target/party's attack by a huge amount. Admiteddly, songs can only take you so far, and in all honesty, I think BRD is pretty well set with what it has right now.

    Indeed. There's a reason bards were seen as badasses, and FFIV's Edward was not it.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
    * Design ideas:
