You hit the nail on the head, meld is a good way to get good gear yes and to make gil, well in XIV 1.0... but yes GOD gear and other gear like SEA and NYZUL ISLE + end game fun period is the reason im here..And i know SE will bring it at some point, Expansion, and or Update.... now that you mention it melding has to SE's answer to the casual plays beef of not being able to get good gear bc they dont play much,... i find it funny that i could buy a sword on xiv 1.0 with melds that would make a primal weapon i worked a month to get look like a damn lvl 1 onion sword... XD

Another thing to add.. due to the lack of content in 1.0, SE had to make things such as melding take longer or have more risk to slow you down in the long run. Now with all the new content we will have tons of stuff to do rather then just spam 2 primals and 2 raids countless times.

Yeah, I'm pretty much sick of having to try and make the same materia a hundred times just so I can attempt to triple meld all max stat materias. So, let stats be determined by Tier instead of random.

As far as the Success rates are concerned. They are sooooo low in 1.0 we could double them in 2.0 and it would still be hard to get a triple meld.

People need to stop saying doing this or that with melding is 'difficult'. With melding something there is Likelyness. It's Probability. % chances for success are involved.

It is not evading a directional lazer beam at the right time or entering sequencial commands accurately and at the right time to get a 200 hit combo.

How to meld: You push a button and /pray. Does not change or become harder than that at any point.

Their increasing the success rate of multi melds means that multi melds become more likely to succeed, not easier to do.

That's the point I was trying to make earlier. Then don't try to make it if you're not happy with the success rate. Buy it off the wards, and take the time you just spent spiritbonding and allocate it to building a bankroll instead.

This is quickly turning into the debate last year of meld VS drops. Why are people claiming it takes more skill and effort to run the same dungeon 100 times for that low drop rate loot vs sitting in town and melding for that low success rate. Anyone remember spamming darkhold? Just training the mobs to the end over and over took no skill after the first people figured it out.

But back on topic, who cares? How about we see the finished product before shitting bricks. thanks

I have every craft leveled to 50 for a reason. I don't rely on others for my stuff. It's more fun to do it myself. Low chance of success is just a mindless time sink.

If it were a secondary crafting game I would be all for it, but it's not. It's click and pray.

If something is going to be rare it should be challenging, not luck.

With all due respect to be who think Dropped gear should be superior to crafted gear. Your right. Dropped Gear should be better than double melded Gear. But let's be honest with ourselves. Triple Melded HQ Crafted Gear is not easy to get. It requires a lot of Effort or a Lot of Money and a lot of money requires a lot of effort. Triples should be on par with or slightly better than Crafted HQ Gear. Quintuple Melded Gear is Damn near impossible and is rightfully Relic level.

This is basically what i was getting it. Triple melding took way more time and effort then speed running darkhold and primals. Crappy drop rates dont = challenge either guys.

But it really doesn't matter since they are changing it and I wouldnt go as far as saying they are just making melding for cheap casuals. Lets wait and see.

I see it like this: In 1.0 I didn't see a single player with 5x tier IV materia melded to an item and only 1 or 2 with 4x. So in 2.0 they're rebalancing it so the people who had double/triple melds will now have quad/quint and players who had nothing/single will have double/triple.

The "hardcore" stay hardcore the casuals get to mess with materia more, where as before they might have been to worried due to lose of gil etc.
