Why are lalafells never casted as the main hero?
Obviously, it's because it would be too easy for the monsters to swallow them in one bite!
*/punts away all the angry lalafells*

There was a Lalafell in that band of adventurers Louie saved, look closer. She/he/it, I can never tell with you small people, was the white mage. No porn star mustache so probably a she, but definitely there. Generic Square Enix Hume Steel Cyclone'd those guys like a boss, get over it.

Well every race pretty much had a "main character"
Roegadyn had a female limsa leader.
Humans for Ul'dah leader
Gridanian leader, forget what they call them... starts with a P
Then we had Darnus who was a villain elezen.
Louisoix good guy Elezen.
Lalafell in the group of knowing.
Miqo'te also in that group of knowing.
Even all the races were accounted for in the GSET (Generic Square-Enix Team). I count highlanders under the human race... cause they are.
Don't see the problem here...
If whatever you're shooting doesn't die after you pump 8, 32 caliber, slugs into it, it's probably a dragon.
As much as I'd love to see Roegadyn get more exposure, I'm not gonna lie; really looking forward to the possibility of a Lalafell Legatus.

or just give us a Judge class :< and see Lalafell in legatus / judge armor D=
"Thy life is a river to bear rapture and sorrow
To listen to suffer to entrust until tomorrow
In one fleeting moment, from the land doth life flow
Yet in one fleeting moment for the new leaf doth grow"

Over time, we'll get 'badass' prominent characters from every race. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that this will happen... It's just going to take time.
A few examples from FFXI that I can think of off the top of my head...
Shantotto (Taru) (original)
Karaha-Baruha (Taru that summoned Fenrir to save Windurst)
Zeid (Galka) (original)
Prishe (Elvaan) (COP)
Lilisette (Half Elvaan/Hume) (WotG)
Tenzen (Hume) (COP)
Lion (Hume) (RotZ)
Naja (Mithra) (ToAU)
The list goes on. As you can see, it took a few expansions for it to happen, but I like that they focused on only a few main characters at a time.
It is notable that there are no Roegadyn archons in XIV, but they did try to include Roegadyn in the cutscene as being the tank (paladin).

Simple answer: Legitimacy.
When you're trying to market to as wide an audience as possible you don't want people being off put by typical chibi type characters.
i want a Female Lalafell Imperial legion leader that would look adorable

While they may not be an active "hero" have you noticed the sheer amount of VERY important Lalafell NPCs? The guy who owns the Goldsmith, Mining, and Clotheirs' Guilds? Lala. Main guy on the Syndicate? Lala. Sultan/Sultana? Lala. Head of blacksmith guild who was Captain Mistbeard's cannonboy back in the day? Lala. Some theories state that the captain was a a Lala himself! (Not getting in-depth with cross-race reproduction.) So in lore and actual content the Lalafell have very important roles and unlike in XI aren't presented in a cutsey-wutsey way. Geeze even some leves have an entire assassin cell of Lalafell that you must defeat! My closing argument, too, is that while not a main role for the small amount of time she was in the final CG cutscene the look on the white mage's face alone caused many to choke up and for her to be remembered for being so compassionate in a time of hopelessness.
So, raise your chins, Lalas! We're out there and we are doing many amazing things!
