If you're using the main website as your source for everything, then I can understand your frustration. Since the website didn't include 1/10th of the information that has been released so far. HOWEVER, the fault doesn't simply belong to SE alone, if you(general term, not directed at a certain person) didn't attempt to keep track of all the promotions they have been doing with dev interview, live letter, LFTPs, the bajillion interviews they did since E3.

They touched on almost all the topics you listed, I'm using "touched" because of course they didn't give us detailed information that explains it from the ground up. But, how could you expect that? there job is to entice us by giving us just enough information that fuels our interest and the rest will be on us to experience in-game.

nah as far as what it's changing to your guess is as good as mine. we just know it's changing and spearfishing is being removed. other than that it's all guess work.

I suppose it's better than my boss catching me... My point about the website was a) Why set it up and not use it and b) why not collect information as it is presented in one place.

I'm not even asking for detailed information but just what will be available and roughly when. I have gone from thinking that the following at a minimum would be available on 2.0 release:

Free Companies
Chocobo raising
Housing
PvP
Crystal Tower

to reading all kinds of vague statements in the interviews making me think that only a basic implementation of Free Companies and (some of) Crystal Tower will be available. Up until last weeks interviews I was sure Chocobo raising would be in the release of 2.0 only to read the following nugget of a non-answer in Reinhart's translation of the interview:

Just confirmation but for the Chocobo raising system, this will be available from the launch of ARR FFXIV correct?
Y: Development team is working hard. I’ve been scolded that the “Cost is too high!” (laugh)

Seriously! If they don't know the answer to this then the release is quite far into the future or I am very very frightened about the content of 2.0.

removing spearfishing completely, but no clue of what they plan to add back to replace it. they are also removing all fishing lures and adding in new ones, but no information on how he new fishing system will work. they gave information, but left more questions than we had before about it.

edit: also all spearfishing achievements will no longer be available in arr. there will be new ones for the new offhand gathering for fishing.

This. Since this change was apparently only decided 2 weeks ago (If it was decided earlier and they just decided not to tell us about the achievement going away until so close to the deadline for 1.xx then I would be very very cross) I can only assume that not much development has been done on this.

If you're "very, very frightened" about anything, then you're taking it all way too seriously, and you're also assuming the worst.

It's more important that these features are done right than be released immediately.

I am almost positive PVP has been stated for after release. Can't find a source right now though.

PvP is not in the release...it was stated numerous times and it stated in the 2.0 road map that it was something to be implemented after the fact of 2.0 release.

Lots of quests...level progression by quests the rapid ability to create quests. The story elements will keep you busy. There will be lots to do. They've given plenty of information what do you all want a strategy guide?

It's an MMO you supposed to explore and learn things as you progress. AGAIN, the bulk of the player base is on PS3 and yet PS3 version is not released. The PC community for Final Fantasy has never been too strong...if it were PC copies of Final Fantasy(not just FFXIV) would have sold really well.

Didn't know story was what determined whether or not a game was good. Because in terms of gameplay X-2 is unmatched, and X was pretty alright despite the lack of the ATB system.

Worst FF is FF8, prove me wrong. I'm derailing this shitty thread. Because it's stupid, and shitty.

FF8 & 10 just made me say WTF its a tie between the two being the worst. the FF13's why did they even bother they come in 2nd place.

How does 8 and 10 tie for the worst Final Fantasies?

13 takes top 3 worst Final Fantasies. How you may ask? 1 for first place (They should have stopped there and let it die out)
FFXIII-2 ranks second because it had little improvement, same battle system with no interesting characters. 3rd places goes to XIII-3 coming out, because the same failed battle.

It also had the most annoying story. When a game has both battle/story that are bad how could it be less bad than two games that either had one or the other not both?

They have to show WHY FFXIV ARR is unique and WHY someone has to prefer it over GW2, Wow , ecc ecc.

Example, GW2 PR: Gw 2 will be revolutionary! never seen super massive PVP, NO queue on servers, no class trident (tank healer dps), no quests but dynamics event, hybrid action combat with a lot of customizzable skill and weapon, dungeons with 4 ways to follow each, ALL servers wide AH , almost NO maintenance, a lot of point of interest on map, jumping puzzle, a lot of e-sport, a lot of colors to customize you amor on fly, great graphics and... all this FREE TO PLAY!!!
