What FFXIV:ARR needs more than anything!

Echoing what others have said. Full-screen windowed mode is also a must for any modern game especially with multi-monitors being so common now. This mode allows you to do things on another monitor without having to minimum the game on the main screen.

full screen alt tab is better as you need full screen for SLI or CF.

As long as your PCs are up to par with the recommended specs, you will be able to ALT+TAB safely out of full-screen mode without the game crashing.

It will fix anything that causes the FFXIV window to lose focus, so yes.

You guys do realize they told us that this was going to be fixed in 2.0 like... a year ago, right? This isn't new news.

The carrier-pidgeon just brought me some very delightful news. In ARR there will be the following three display modes:

• normaler Fenstermodus normal windowed mode
• rahmenloser Fenstermodus borderless windowed mode
• Vollbild-Modus Full-screen mode

Ihr werdet also in Ruhe mit Alt-Tab die Fenster wechseln und den Fenster-Modus eurer Wahl einstellen können.
