without even addressing your definition of 'good', guild wars 2 doesn't exactly have this feature. you have town gear, but you can't equip weapons. you can enable or disable head and shoulder slot visuals. or you can use transmutation stones, which are finite consumables.

point is- saying they have something similar or comparable is fine, but be careful when you say a game "has this feature" and be prepared to explain how the features work.

I'm for it! But I think there should be an on/off switch for people that don't want to see it. Similarly, to how you can toggle headgear.

How about we just go all the way and ask for a reskinning system like transmutations, transmogrification, or appearance enchants, which have strict guidelines and limitations in place?

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

If you want people to see that YOU have Darklight, then don't use the vanity gear slot for whatever "Darklight" gear you have. Picture that whatever isn't in the vanity slot will display the current equipped gear.

IMO vanity is a great idea with all the designs in the game that go unused. Some of the lower level shields have great designs for example but you'll never see or use em.

The idea of wanting to see what someone is wearing at a glance isn't realistic anyway for the most part. If people's gear is important to you and you see a black mage roll up sporting a lightning brand, felt hat and whatever else then you're still going to end up checking his gear to see what he's got melded there which ultimately defeats that arguement.

Aesthetics is a fairly immersing part of games. Some people spend hours creating characters to look just how they want so why shouldn't that be extended to gear? Given the option I'd like to make the felt hat my black mage wears match my militia robe in color. or I'd like to make my sentinals sabatons match my militia cuirass.

I don't see how there'd be any harm at all in a vanity system to do that. Seems common sense to have vanity follow the same equipping restrictions as regular gear so you're warrior wouldn't be wearing bard af for example as thats just total extreme but if for example you wanted your paladin in full darklight to look like its in full af then that shouldn't be a problem. I know a lot of people who think a lot of the dark light is ugly

What if I'd rather wear my vintage chainmail? Or any other lower level equip? Leather armor? Bone armor? Even with choices you named, more than 90% of gear in game is not being used.

To add to this, heavy darklight armor looks stupid as @$#! to me, so when I obtain it to wear, I dont want to have to look stupid as @#$! in order to have good stats. I would like to continue "Looking the Part", as the quest is titled, because it looks better to me. I hate being forced to have a helm shown, in and out of combat.

    My thoughts exactly.

You can wear whatever you want when you aren't fighting, so no need for vanity gear in towns.
You can complete much of the game's current content naked, so no need for vanity gear for anything but the most difficult stuff.

Why would we need the devs to make a vanity gear system just so you can look like you're wearing scale mail during Garuda and White Raven battles??

Just wear what you want, people!
