Am I the only one who thinks the Hildebrand stuff is stupid?

Hildebrand while comical is an insult to my immersion, how any respectable (NPC or otherwise) person could even stand being around him amazes me. If I had the option to click on a button that said "Ignore Hildebrand's actions and go on with doing the rest of the quest" I would in a heart beat. I mean seriously, I know it's a game but he is the black sheep. All the other characters make sense. Why is he such a moron? Does no one find it odd how he survives every encounter even though he is less than incompetent? He is the joke character, he is the Jar-Jar Binks of Eorzea. He is Pinky and his assistant is Brain. He is Psyduck and she is Misty. If I could kill him, I would.

I enjoy the silliness, myself. There has always been the occasional comic relief in FF games, and frankly, XIV was in some need of it. Hell, XIV needs more memorable characters like Hildebrand, even if not necessarily so OTT.

I've heard a lot about Hildebrand and how it's supposed to be hilarious, and although I can see why other people think that he's funny because he's silly and all, I sometimes feel like I'm the only one that thinks he's stupid and kinda retarded...

I know that some people might say "If you don't like it then don't do the quests" and that's perfectly valid. It's just that multiple podcasts that I listen to have talked over and over again how you'll laugh your ass off from the new quests, and I personally don't really see how it's all that funny. Not to mention the semi "cult" following if you will of people who love Hildebrand, I mean, he even has a twitter account named after him. I just have like "Uhh.... Okay...." or a "Are you ****ing serious..." kind of reaction.

So what do you guys think? Am I seriously the only one that finds his character stupid and kind of meaningless?

The only thing funny in current version FFXIV is FFXIV itself.

You're probably right, but it's funny to see someone say anime is dumb (most of it is hilarious and a lot of it is better than any animation we westerners have, i.e. Rurouni Kenshin, one of my absolute favorites) when they have probably the stupidest show featured in their signature, with an equally stupid community that follows it.

It really is quite ironic.
