Not only the bland repetitive gridania forest paths, but also the empty same old open desert layout of ul dah will be gone. I say goodbye to them, and welcome thier makeoverHearing the prelude of 2.0, makes me think of a New beginning. For whatever reason you may have, What will you miss about 1.0 that will be removed for 2.0? ( Maps, seamless, Missions, Hilibrand *if he's not in 2.0*) things like that. What did you dislike about 1.0 that your glad to see gone in 2.0?
Me? I will miss the boat ride from Thanalan to Limsa alot. I really love the thunderstorms there, so peaceful. I am glad that the Horrendous looking Gridania got reworked majorly, Looks ALOT better in 2.0 from what I have seen thus far.
What are your Thoughts?
Here is the 2.0 Prelude for your listening pleasures =):

There is one singular thing that is going away and not coming back that I think I will miss
The story macguffin that there using to herald the coming changes. That red ball of doom and destruction has been looming over us for so long. It will be some what strange and sad to me to not see it looming in the sky.

All I can look at is that ugly bush. XDThere is one singular thing that is going away and not coming back that I think I will miss

It's difficult to say, I would really like some clarification on the whole "not-seamless world" thing. The current world is not seamless either... there are load-ins between each zone (and there are only 5 total... each one is just huge). I'm really hoping by "not seamless" they actually mean "not thematically androgynous", seeing as there are going to be more smaller zones with more defined themes going from one to the other... having load-ins between each one seems like a gigantic step backwards, and is unnecessary/lazy.
I've heard people say it's way to cope with the memory constraints of the PS3, but subjecting PC players to it when they already went to all the trouble to make wholly separate UI/Client for both platforms seems... maddening.
On-topic; those little run-stop/race specific animations. I'll miss them, they can keep everything else.

Yeah, I remember when people were damn near about to hump their own mothers at the thought and sight of Tera's "fast battle system."
Yeah that definitely saved that game >.>.
So GW2 took a gigantic step backwards as well? From the way they described the zones, it sounded like they were still large enough and unique, but simply separated to get around some issues you have when you go seamless. It's difficult to say, I would really like some clarification on the whole "not-seamless world" thing. In fact, I can even think of any other new or recent MMOs that have been truly seemless. I would argue that, while not impossible, trying to go seemless would hold everything back. Particularly when dealing with creating new areas for patches and expansions. The time spent is not even worth it and if you just took out the seamless aspect you can cut time spent actually making the zones thoughtful and special.
Never understood seamless, I've yet to see a truly seamless MMO (which are still half heartily seamless) that was developed in a way that impressed me.
