Anything in-game that automates something or tells you what to do/when to do it that is not default in the game, is a bot. DBM told you to get out of the fire, not all addons are bots, but DBM was/is.
A bot must automate an action. An alarm is not a bot. Moving you to the location or forcing you not to move would be a bot.

If DBM played the game for you, it is a bot - but I doubt that DBM did anything besides assess the situation. Just like players do, we killed X lets kill Y now. Should ban the player for botting. No help can be given what so ever.

"Hey you need to cast fire on these monsters"
"Thanks, but I'm going to have to report you to a GM now for botting"

People talking to other people... requires human interaction, your trying to say a human doing something and a machine doing something is the same thing, when you call a business do you really enjoy those automated answering machines where you have to select option after option? Oh I bet you do.

When the human aspect is removed, its automated, the addon(bot) telling you where to go, and to get out of the fire is automated. You having the option to listen to said bot is like telling the answering machine no and hanging up, its still automated.

Actually I've had some really smart automated answer machines that took me exactly where I wanted instantly.

The arrows still dont make it a bot, but I dont like the idea of the arrows (the mod I remember basically just alarmed and said what spell the boss was doing).

Even then by how you are thinking then macros being bots and the interface being a bot because it automates calcualation of your health, mana, and tp.

Your perfect MMO would be a no button hell. I disagree and woulnt play or pay for that.

If you insist on calling everything a bot then fine, they are bots. But you have a lot of bots already in the game from SE then.

Macro's were in 11 by Default, Macro's are in 14 by Default, I heard they were in wow too but people refused to use them and claimed you had to be a programmer to use them.

Your trying to compair addon(bots) that are by default in the game that content is designed around, as in not an option by anyone to download, its just there to things that are player-made, and more specifically made to make things easy.

Anything that is default, im fine with, if I dont like it, I would simply leave, just like I did with ff11, and so did many others after abyssea came out. WoW gives you the option to download these things, yet content was designed around them, if content is made for them, and if they are allowed, it should be default, but aslong as its an option to have it, content should not revolve around having it, and if content isnt made to compensate for it, your basically cheating.

I agree to this logic - but that doesnt mean players cannot design addons if the addons are allowed as a default feature.

Besides with the ps3 involved it will be unlikely SE designs the game around addons - it would be a silly choice.

I think if an addon seems so good and should have content designed around it then SE should add it into the game themselves. Therefore its not optional.

Hence half of the windower functionality being added to the new XI UI coming out with the new expansion pack. XI was a sorry mess of a game without windower. I dislike the XIV UI due to the lag, but XI's UI was terrible in a different way.
