Herp de dur. Yoshida specifically said it wasn't intended and they're changing it because they dont want it to continue. When playing a game, if its not what the dev intended and they say they don't like it - its an exploit.
Yeah I'm gonna agree with Quesse here. If that proves it was an exploit, they also need to take away all the gil that was gained when leves gave you an ass ton of it and all the garuda weapons earned in blm burn parties should go poof too.
Lol -- I'm sorry, no one was using seals for Dawn Drops > Gil in this manner months ago -- You rarely even seen people in your GC buying stuff beyond manuals and raise tonics (if they actually knew about it.) Maybe you and your friends were but that's a different story.

The following adjustments have been made:
- The rate at which combatable Atomos appears has been reduced.
- Monsters will no longer spawn around Atomos when it appears in low and mid level areas.
- The selling price for the following items has been reduced to 1 gil:
- Dried Prunes
- Ginger Cookie
- Blood Drops
- Dawn Drops
- The amount of Grand Company Seals required to trade for 999 Bronze Arrows has been raised from 25 to 50.

Yes they were, visit the Japanese forums, they started doing this as soon as it started because they knew about using dawn drops via GC seals...
Also people farm drops from monsters to sell to NPCs that were included on the list from the GC.. and they did it as a means for income now this change affects that as well as people that used those items for crafting, they just drastically changed the value of those items..
not the way to fix it.. they should have adjusted the event..
sidenote.. expect like 90% less people doing Atomos now so if you need that win good luck on making that happen
What he said was:
Which means they expected gil to be made but it was more than anticipated so now they are turning it off. Not an exploit.Originally Posted by Naoki_Yoshida

Thank you all very much for all your feedback regarding Atomos.
The development team has been observing the data for how much gil is being dished out (including the gil being generated when exchanging grand company seals), and it is currently higher than what was expected.
Due to this, we once be making additional adjustments during a hot fix during maintenance tomorrow morning. The hot fix will focus on the following:
•Adjustments to the amount of gil received when selling grand company seal items to vendors ⇒ Adjustments to the amount of gil being distributed
•Adjustments to the frequency of Atomos spawns ⇒ Adjustments to the amount of Grand Company Seals that can be acquired each hour by reducing the spawn cycle
•Removal of the monsters summoned by Atomos in low-level area ⇒ Adjustments intended for lower level players
We will be adjusting the overall balance without touching the rewards from Atomos.
We apologize for any inconveniences, but appreciate your understanding.
Exactly, people throwing that word exploit around and dont even really understand what it means.. it was an oversight from the development team NOT an exploit
They never said they anticipated gil from the event. They however said more gil is coming in then they could imagine and they need to change it - because its not good.
