It'd be interesting to see children NPC grow up as the game goes on in its years. Maybe even a quest line centering around one of the kids that updates as he or she grows older whether by time or expansions or what have you.

aside from that, is there any NPCs dying? Considering the catastrophe, would say very likely. ;D
wait... some NPC did died @ least on those latest GC quests. And...
there's that one Job final quest which has one perished too.
NPCs walking around: Yes, please!
NPCs going to bed: Yes, please!
Shops having multiple clerks who work in shifts: Yes, please!
Battlewardens returning to Ul'dah during certain hours in plain clothes to relax: Yes, please!
Things like this just make the game much more alive and interesting. I look forward to anything that takes us in such a direction.![]()

So the prostitutes of uldah live to see another era! Ontop of that they learned new tricks! I'm pumped now! With the changes we'll be making to the maps in A Realm Reborn we will also be changing the location of NPCs. Additionally, we will be adding more liveliness to NPCs in the field similar to NPCs in guilds who are cooking and training.
After A Realm Reborn launches we will also look into adding even more aspects to NPCs to make the game feel alive.
Keith Dragoon - Ambassador of Artz and Adorable
last time I played game with lively NPC is Brave Fencer Musashi (PSX), I missed that game![]()
Aion Zwei - Masamune

On a side note, they should really enable a forum feature to completely block/ignore certain people on the forums. Not going further into that, but yeah, some people. oi
NPCs moving about, going through chores, its a nice touch. I recall the lantern lighters in Jeuno, every set hours, watch him march up and down the street, lighting the lamps, would often get in line with him, /follow and go afk. Simple enough!
Before I read all your post guys, I thought I'd throw in a *idea(and possible origin) for thief/ninja.
With the catalyst that happen, desperate time calls for desperate measures. NPCs will be suffering at most and things wont be the same. I'll be surprised to even see kids running around(are there even kids in the current version??) causing mischief.
*This section could be derailing from the topic soo bare with me:
In this after math, would you think we'll get a new class/ job with origin and quests? Think of how in other countries, towns and regions will be available, possible new mobs and adventures! Most important due to the turn of evens, will player be resorting to becoming a thief to survive the harsh new environment? Will thf be the new class?
Ninja could be the new job, they're:
a) thieves
b) smugglers
c) assassins
d) spies
e) messengers
f) elite guards
g) shinobi (mystical fighters)
~**~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~**~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~**~
I think to make the game consistent, there needs to be a fountain of youth cuz my character will be getting old too(and probably weaker) O_o
Wow, you guys are amazing. You were thinking the same as I,lol! I do feel there should be children, the more energetic part of a generation. Either running around or jumping over rocks and walls! Maybe even bumping into you stealing your gil :P (if you catch him/her, you get your gil back) :P
kids will be the first to suffer if their parents pass away and will fight to survive. Elders and other adults would probably stay stationary but I would imagine they'd be moving about too. If you remember, there were moving NPCs in FFxi too (west Ronfare). I think it was funny because the NPC was running but in slow-motion XD

As long as I don't have to chase down one of those mobile NPCs for whatever reason (be it a quest or they are part of a store) i'm all for it.
However comma meaningful pause, NPCs that require constant visiting or are part of quests would be a real pain if they were not in the same place at all times. I guess it would be realistic, but I hate with equal vehemence having to hunt down somebody I need to talk to personally.
