Lol that's BS My elf friend was a kick ass blm and so was my taru friend and he could never get those 2k Freeze 2' @ 75 cap cause he was elf it's no denying that. A whm Galka could be lfg for hrs just like a fkin drg or pup cause who wantsa lvl 50 whm with same mp as a lvl 50 hume pld.Why implementing something that shouldn't make a difference? To benefit everyone in the same way means to not benefit anyone ... so they could leave things the way they are now as well.
Let's not joke about "Some may try to claim that equipment makes up for such, but it doesn't." ... the most kickass BLM I've ever seen playing FFXI was an elvan ... the "dumbest" class talking about INT ...
Base stats were nothing more than a funny difference ... you could easily overcome that, with amazing results, adding fun to the game ... to see Taru Dark Knights enjoy the slaughter doing Insurgency, Galkas as summoner, "real human males" choosing Mithras only for their look without even thinking about stats etc. was really part of the fun ...
I am for the addition of race-based bonuses as long as they are not game-breaking in their determination of which players can fill what roles as a result of their race. Race-bonuses add flavor to each race and are good for the game as long as they are kept from being overbearing.
For example, Hyur could have a 1-2% higher parry / block rate, Miqo'te could have a 1-2% higher dodge rate, Elzen could have a 1-2% higher hit rate, and so on. Anything higher would be too much.
The bonuses could also be excluded to things that are non-combat focused, such as +5% more exp from quests, +5% more gil from leves, +5% better chance to stabilize an unstable element on crafting success, and so on.

The reason SE hasn't added race specific bonuses and will not in the future is because it's only aesthetic and has nothing to do with performance. It was decided long before this senseless thread that races wasn't going to be favorable to any abilities or traits to influence players to choose what race to play.
That's why I'm still comfortable still playing as Elf (like in ffxi, best race ever!). Race specific gear shouldn't have different stats either but it should be mendable (the best system ever!). Unless you put alittle effort to being difference, faster, smarter or stronger, all players start the same way, on equal standings. SE need to make it clear that as their subscribers, no one will be playing favorite and getting special treatment because "all men/women are created equally".

Leave Rousseau out of this please ... and btw, that's not true at all. A Jamaican isn't a Japanese, you know ... same thing about Highlander/Lalafells etc.Unless you put alittle effort to being difference, faster, smarter or stronger, all players start the same way, on equal standings. All men are created equal in rights ... surely not physically.
What is this panic about racial bonuses? The game won't be funny if a race starts with 20 str and 25 mnd while another one with 25 str and 20 mnd?
You know, about "all men are created equal" ... there are people who are born without arms ... still someone is able to play piano using their own feet ... and they play better than me.
All japanese mangas, anime ... have as hero someone with a fairly impossible dream, being considered as a scum in the beginning, still at the end he's able to reach it ...
Now the problem here, in a videogame, should be small racial differences? Personally, I would really feel satisfied, playing as a warrior Lalafell, winning in an arena match an highlander with my same job ... It would be more difficult, more interesting ... more epic.
Now my turn to write a famous quote: "Americans are so enamored of equality that they would rather be equal in slavery than unequal in freedom."
OT: Has anyone ever seen "Gattaca"? If not, you should ... it's a very nice movie.

"I like the stars. It's the illusion of permanence, I think. I mean, they're always flaring up and caving in and going out. But from here, I can pretend... I can pretend that things last. I can pretend that lives last longer than moments. Gods come, and gods go. Mortals flicker and flash and fade. Worlds don't last; and stars and galaxies are transient, fleeting things that twinkle like fireflies and vanish into cold and dust. But I can pretend."
As a Warrior Lalafell, I find this offensive. I don't walk into a fight thinking this will be epic because I'm a Lalafell and I'm auto-weaker. I want the enemy to get stronger so I can get stronger. Throwing a race-based handicap does not make it worth the extra effort, it makes me annoyed and frustrated. Now the problem here, in a videogame, should be small racial differences? How is it a handi cap? If it dosent take away from current stats then it can not be considered a handi cap. And it would make sense that a galk swings an axe or takes a physical hit better then a taru, but on the pluss side, if tarus or lalas , as it were, are stronger in the magical realm of things, this would give them a slight advantage on takning . As it stands magic damage seems to be the only aspect of the game in wich a tank has no real perminate solution for, except for stacking HP (wich isnt realy a solution imo) soo a taru tank may be what is needed in some cases when a magic attack is soo defistating it plays a key role in the pace of a instance . But racial stating is not a handicap, it adds to each race a hint of realistic flavor, but dose not hinder one from doing w/e he/she wants to do.As a Warrior Lalafell, I find this offensive. I am against race based bonuses after years of staring at MP pools on those pesky tarus!
I am in favour of different types of bonuses however which you could collect and freely activate or deactivate, perhaps in a sense similar to wayshrines in Elder Scrolls. Perhaps we can have wayshrines for the Twelve for this purpose.
Pretty much against it, if were going to have race defining traits they should be made in a way to not hinder or advantage one race over another, which became a prominent issue back in FFXI.
Examples that wouldn't be groundbreaking:
-Certain Races are slightly stronger to certain elements.
-Slight speed bonuses depending on terrain. (IE: Wildwood Elzen would receive a speed bonus in the woods, Dunesfolk in desert areas, Sea Wolfs in costal areas, etc.) *Voided in instanced events.
-Slight idle heal bonus depending on terrain. *Voided in instanced events.
-Increased gathering bounty for your races home reigon. (Sea Wolves- Limsa, Wildwood- Grid, Dunesfolk- Uldah, etc.)
I guess most of the advantages listed would be more of a home turf advantage rather than a racial advantage, but still nothing about it's ground breaking albeit could be useful in the end.

I'm totally against racial traits, it really doesn't matter how small they are, specially, when it comes to damage dealing or mitigation, it will always be factored in btu the most elitist, leaving some people out in the open without a chance to show their skills.
If it happens with jobs, I can't even imagine this whole thing based on race selection.
I really don't want another FFXI racist game design.
