SE, remove (Veteran Trade) from the auto-dictionary, add (Please know battle plan.)

Pretty frequently in Ul'dah, there are leaders of a random party shouts, usually Ifrit or Moogle, recruiting members but also adding (Vetern Trade) to the shout. This has been going on now for some months in Balmug, I'm not sure about other servers, but it's starting to irritate me a little. I figured it was just a fad, but I'm not too sure anymore.

I can't be the only only one asking: What about our newer players to the game who want to practice the fights, get the weapons and experience the content before its all changed or erased in 2.0? Count them out all together? Forget that Final Fantasy 11, and hopefully 14, is known, praised and played for having one of the most, if not the most, welcoming mmo community to date?

Don't get me wrong, though. I do understand, and have experienced, the frustrations of having newer players in a battle and then it all going very bad because they have no idea what's going on or don't seem to care to learn a little bit about it before hand. But that's why it's a good idea, as a party leader, or just a member to ask everyone if their familiar with the battle mechanics or need an explanation and/or a video to watch, too. I love joining parties and seeing people ask that, don't you?

But instead of all doing that, people are just using (Veteran Trade) in the shout and recruiting only "veteran" players to the battle. It's funny, too, because in my experience, the leader who shouted for (Veteran Trade) players in a random shout party usually doesn't know much how what's going on either. But it's not the fact that people only want experienced players to the battle that gets to me, that I can understand, but it's the fact that SE doesn't have a better phrase to use in its place. And terms of mmos, veterans are only players that have played a very long time and know a lot, if not almost everything about the game.

So when people start throwing around the word (Veteran Trade) in shout parties, whether they know it or not, our newer players, who are indeed waiting, if not more so than experienced players on these shouts, read (Veteran Trade) they get nothing but discouraged, which results in them obviously not wanting to coming, beginning to think our game is full of elitists, and possibly not trying the fight at all.

So, SE, can't you please add something on the lines of (Please know the battle plan) or (Please know boss mechanics) to our auto-dictionary so less people will use (Veteran trade) for the most common and limited endgame that is accessible to our new level 50s? If people want only veteran players in their parties, that's fine, but isn't that what linkshells and statics are for? Not a random Ul'dah, shout? I personally, and I know I'm not alone saything this, enjoy helping newer 50s get a win, too.

But please, SE just add something else!! It would take no time to do. Thank you!

And if you agree, please like and comment on this post. Maybe they'll do something when enough people agree.

...meh. Veteran trade is a crafting ability, in this case used with that meaning. Isn't something related to "rename", but more like "add (Please know battle plan.)"

I can agree to this. Sometimes the battle plan is as simple as searching a link to look at a map and read 1 or 2 paragraphs. Alienating players just because they haven't done it before may be a necessity sometimes, but it is very discouraging.

Veteran Trade is a Crafting Skill. All Crafting Skills are in the Auto-Trans Dictionary.

Well if it's any consolation, that's probably going to translate to something totally different to the other languages. (That is the purpose of auto-translate anyway, not something to throw in random phrases with your advertisements) It's kind of like when someone does {Help me out!} it's a literal translation to {Save my life!}, yet the former is usually used in shouts when they want help with a quest or something.

It's not really used as a crafting skill term on our server for the English players, though. I've only ever seen it used as a form of recruitment. I Wish it was only used the correct way, that's for sure.

A lot of Auto-Translations aren't used "in the correct terms" on any server, however people usually click to the context it's used in anyway.

A lot of those veteran trade shouts aren't even worth it from first-hand experience.

Agreed. I joined a veteran trade shout once the leader was one of the few people who died. Strange. I mean who cares if you die or screw up sometimes, but then you probably shouldn't be recruiting vet players.. just my opinion.

    ^

They usually want the wins handed to them, so they'll ask for "vets" to come in and do all the dirty work.
