Someone made a thread about that same idea a while back and more less, people were like "Deal with it~"It's the shadows.
They're too starkly contrasted. Hides a lot of the nice detail and soft tones under messy black streaks.
Here the shadows are soft and faded:
Here they're sharp and bold:
And I just noticed. Does anyone think the visual direction of the UI seems too...futuristic for this setting?
Kinda looks like something I'd see from 13.
Oh, I hope we get styles to choose from like in 11. That would be rad.
But others brought up points that a number of games don't UIs that match their interface.
But yeah, I hope they let themes or plugins to change it. I like it how it is, but I wouldn't mind going back to classic FF blue.

Little 8 bit lookin windows with the blue backgrounds and white borders.
Finally? I hope not. The last thing I want is to have to fill my bag with a million situational gear pieces. Will they finally allow us to swap gear in battle,

Sorry to have to correct you on this, but Gear Swapping is a dead issue in FFXIV - per the Battle Director Akihiko Matsui via Bayohne.

I can see why they would be against haste gear as well as it serves as a DPS multiplier and can be difficult to balance properly.
Could you post link for your info on that? I'd like to read up on it.
Sidenote: It would be strange for them not to release their new race(s) with 2.0 as that is when we will be getting our re-roll. If the new race(s) are introduced a year or two out, we won't see many people playing them due to the heavy investment in current characters. Didn't Yoshi~P mention something earlier this year about being excited to show us concept art for the new race?

No I completely agree with you. I don't think it fits at all. I hope we can choose Style. I think the current UI fits the scenery, the time period and it has great aesthetics, instead of being UI that bogs down the player the UI complements the environment. This UI is in stark contrast to the environment.

In regards to the new race my impression was that it was going to be released with 2.0 so that we could re-roll with the new race as well if we wanted. Unless they let us re-roll when they release the new race I don't see it being worth while for them to release a new race at all. Exactly, the time you invest in your character, your achievements items that you cannot exchange.Sorry to have to correct you on this, but Gear Swapping is a dead issue in FFXIV - per the Battle Director Akihiko Matsui via Bayohne.

Perhaps well into 2.0 after we get our initial re-roll, SE will add a pay for race / sex change feature.

I'm pretty sure it was stated that the UI will be moddable using Flash to create widgets and skins. No I completely agree with you. I don't think it fits at all. I hope we can choose Style.
