This dream mechanic thing is funny

I'm very new to the FFXIV, so when I found out you can get bonus exp for logging off in an inn, I was like "Hell yes". Well, I logged off via the bed to see my toon hop up and lay down all "Draw me like one of your french girls" style, and went to bed myself.

I woke up thinking I will be in my room, when all of a sudden I see a cutscene where this red orb is floating in the sky. I see what I am to assume NPCs dead around my toon, some look familiar, others don't. My toon staggers as he tries to regain himself, when all of a sudden, a pair of eerie greaves makes it's way towards me. I see what looks like an epic judge looking dude, with a giant lance pointed at me. As he prepares to finish me off, my toon awakens, on the floor, the General chat box letting me know Leep feels uneasy about it all. I don't know much of the game, so I am to assume this is no mere nightmare, but a vision of things to come.

I also had a dream where I tried to incubate a large egg.

This game is awesome.

Like people have said, make sure to check the bed after having a dream when you log in. You will usually get some kind of low-level food or medicine that will help you when you're just starting out. You can use them by hitting U on the keyboard or clicking the bag icon in the micro menu on the bottom right.

Regarding the end of the world, there is a big meteor in the sky that you can see wherever you are except for Gridania. Get through the storyline to find out more =P

One thing you will come to realize about FFXI and FFXIV is that you want to avoid almost any and all WoW references and lingo (for instance we do not whisper we /tell). The FF genre has developed a few terms of their own and most FF players poopoo WoW players and vice versa. Think if it like rival gangs lol
