    Why do people associate the maw from being part of Abyssea? My memory betrays me, but weren't they introduced FIRST in the Wings of the Goddess expansion and were implemented as a means to go back in time?

    Fixed for you. This Atomos is not a maw, yes it looks like them from FFXI, but its only in FFXI they were refered to as carvenous maws. Atomos was around and looked very similar to this Atomos, that make FF9 Atomos a maw, and all the others?
