Do you think this game will be as great as XI was?

I'm sitting on youtube listening to all of the old BGM from XI, and thinking whether 2.0 will has the same lasting effect as XI did.

like the above poster stated. it's up to the individual. personally, i liked the game on release day more than i liked xi.

i stayed with xi for all of just a few weeks before i left it never to return, but have stayed with this game since release.

Greatness is subjective. There is tons of potential, but I won't pass judgement until we finally see it.

FF11 development team was like the "honey badger", they didnt care what people thought, they built the game they wanted to build, they could actually "design" something and not copy, actually copy, and be proud of it saying things like "bringing all the FF series together" like yoshi does, cater to everyone, and nobody will be happy.

Even in 2.0, I promise you this game will be nothing but a copy of every other MMO out there, mainly because of these forums.

In a way, and to a point, greatness is subjective, but I would base it off of the best ive seen, and that was 11.

Nothing will ever be like XI, unfortunately.

But XIV will be a different game. I can only hope will be good in the sense that it can differentiate itself from other MMOs

While preferences is subjective, I'm pretty sure XIV won't leave as significant of an imprint on the industry nor people's perception of the genre as XI did

Depends on how they develope the content.

If it's happy meal easilly consumed content it will have no lasting impact and the game will move on in a few years. If they design it to have lasting appeal like XI did it will be around for years to come.

I doubt this game will have as much of an impact on me as FFXI did. I was around 11 years old when XI came out, and was far more impressionable then than what I am now. However, will this game be better than XI? Subjective, but I think it has a damn good chance.
