Is this game's music memorable to you?

I find myself playing this game with sound off 90% of the time, and to be honest, the only music i really remember clearly for a zone is coerthas. When I played ffxi I almost always had sound on, and i distinctly remember the majority of music. Especially ronfaure, and sactuary of zi tah.

So do you find this games music memorable?
Also, anyone know if they are adding completely new music to 2.0?

I love the opening track. But honestly... there hasn't been an MMO yet that had music I could stand for more than a week. My music is turned off.

Though I would like an option or a toggle for separate cutscene music volume. sitting in town or running around the last thing I want is to hear the same repetitive song ad nauseum, (especially event music like the firefall faire town music.) But I do like hearing the music when it's supposed to set the tone for a cinematic.

Honestly not really -- MMOs with memorable music to me:

-Air Rivals (if you never heard a track before: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UGPP...eature=related)
    -FFXI
    -PSO2
    -Ragnarok Online

A lot of MMOs have decent music, but it tends to go in either the "overly dramatic for the sake of it" or "overly cute for the sake of it" routes. XIV has some good tracks, but it's not that memorable because there's not that many memorable moments in this game as of yet. They've said they're remastering the music for 2.0 or at least remixing and some will stay (from 1.0) and some (maybe a lot) will not even appear in 2.0.

I have no problem with music at all (Uematsu did a great job overall imo and the new music pieces they added for the patches are nice too). I like the most of them but i hope they add new ones for the 'new areas' as well, because i always love to hear new pieces.

All of the music is pretty good it just doesn't fit with the world (at times)

Some of the music fits and is amazing.

And of course all the obvious tracks such as Answers, Garuda, Moogle, Nael etc.

SO many great tracks! Even though the normal overworld music and generic battlemusic might not be the most exciting things ever, there certainly is some awesome music in this game.

The music in this game is fantastic 95% of the time. The problem though, as Jynx mentioned, is the piss poor placement of a lot of the songs. And overusing other songs. And lack of music in areas that don't have much going on in the first place.

FFXI, while having great music a lot of the time, also lacked music in 50% of the world at launch. For dungeons I guess I can understand, but for Kontchat, Valkurm, Tahrongi Canyon, I could go on. There were areas that really needed music.

I would listen to the in game music more if a) I CAN TURN OFF THE CHOCOBO/MOUNT THEMES BECAUSE AS THEY ARE ENJOYABLE, I DON'T NEED TO HEAR THE THEME FOR MINUTES AND MINUTES ON END, ESPECIALLY SOMETHING AS REPETITIVE AS THE CHOCOBO THEME. b) I'd rather listen to Ul'dah's music than the Crafting music, which is something I've been doing a lot lately. c) fix festival music to play in only certain areas and not the entire goddamn first zone and city

As for your last question, I'm fairly certain they are adding new music.

half the soundtracks in this game are forgettable at best. Unlike FFXI take for instance the San'd'oriea BGM, i haven't play that game in like 4 years, yet i still hear it in the back of my mind crawling an scratching its way out. Bastoks theme was no different the only BGM i've forgotten is Windursts. every once in awhile i'll start humming the battle in a dungeon theme outta nowhere.

I enjoy the music in FFXIV, but I think there's a problem with track length and not enough variation in different areas. World of Warcraft has music design implementation nearly perfected, and I hope 2.0 follows some of its incorporation. I've posted at length as to why in the past and you can search my post history to find out more information on why WoW's music implementation is superior to other MMOs.

Thanalan, Ul'dah, and Goobbue are my favorite tracks.

I'd also support a mount music toggle.
