Its just weird that they thought they needed to make a new trailer reusing old CGI, because people complained. What kind of pandering is that? If you do not have new CGI and possibly some gameplay, there is no reason to make another trailer. SE has some weird concept of "listening to their fanbase" and its probably going to cost them the success of this game.
The first trailer was fine. People complained about weird things like the voice over not being good enough. I thought it was pretty and the guy sounded pleasant. I liked his voice and he was british iirc, everyone loves a bristish accent...oh wait maybe not a lot of "muricans, they tend to be hateful for no reason, judging by the comments I saw about the UK after the Olympics. And these comments were not restricted to the Opening Ceremonies, which I also had a good time bashing(that was some weird shit). But 'muricans honestly just bashed and bashed the UK for reasons I cannot fathom.
Save up your gil SE until you have gameplay and new CGI, then hire Morgan Freeman to do your voice over (although there is nothing wrong in my eyes with the UK folk MF is just a sure thing if you want successful ads). Instant Winning!
OR
You can keep reusing the same CGI and content with different voice overs. I know that shit seems to impress the forum whiteknights, I'm sure it's a viable strategy to bring in new players. smh
Hi All,
It was a nice touch to have the original Final Fantasy Crystal Theme in this new trailer. I realize the team is busy actually finalizing the 2.0 In-Game World (Textures, Lighting, etc.), but both Trailers feel like they're working with a tiny amount of actual usable footage and splicing / cutting / jumping back-and-forth too often, creating a chaotic feeling with flashes of Something Epic, but lacking the cohesion and inspiration I'm hoping the final 2.0 Trailer / Release will be like.
I don't mean to sound down on either one - they're enjoyable and OK - but I actually got more excited and inspired when I first saw these Square trailers released originally:
- Final Fantasy X
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KS0PPLTspeU
- Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete HD
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qy9hiWlk8ykBarring the low quality and obvious age of FF X (released 11 years ago(!)), there's a pacing and mood and it made me want to go out and buy the import copy of Final Fantasy X from Japan as soon as I saw it.
- Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Alternate / Mood Trailer (Japanese)

In this new 2.0 Trailer, it has some pretty CG and some cool scenes, but the cutting back and forth between Meteors raining down, then to a Forest w/ Odin, to the bright Snow, then back to the Meteors, cut cut cut, etc. it feels a bit rushed and as if they didn't have enough footage to show.
I'm still super excited about 2.0, just hoping the final 2.0 Trailer is more cohesive and provides more inspiration for the general public is all.
Thanks~
The first trailer sucked because...
That pimple-faced pubescant attempt at voice over work ruined the beautiful work the CG artists put into the first trailer.
This 2nd trailer is much much better and feels more like a quality "high fantasy" trailer from a legitamite game developer, and less like a random amateur YouTube fandub attempt.

Okay relax. Who's wasting time reusing CGI here exactly? SE's video editor's. This probably took them like 2 seconds. The voice over is 1000x more fitting and actually feels like FINAL FANTASY. This is a FIX, and that's all it is. Relax. Breathe. Relax. Its just weird that they thought they needed to make a new trailer reusing old CGI, because people complained. While I agree with you Kiara, but All these " Short Trailers" is just a Preparation for the Full Cinematic.. More like a Teaser to the CGI.In this new 2.0 Trailer, it has some pretty CG and some cool scenes, but the cutting back and forth between Meteors raining down, then to a Forest w/ Odin, to the bright Snow, then back to the Meteors, cut cut cut, etc. it feels a bit rushed and as if they didn't have enough footage to show.
The Gameplay Videos are coming in less than 9 days and will see what FFXIV: ARR truly is! and the other people will see the Gameplay as well and understand if it a good or bad game for them to play!.
Old trailers for the original game were better.
"So after really having that inner voice nag at me for a while, I decided to have another trailer made up, which we did thanks to the hard work of the Visual Works crew, Masayoshi Soken and the others from our sound team, and our marketing and PR teams." - Yoshi-P
Seems like it was his feelings that lead to new trailer not the complainers. This decision was probably made way before the public got to give their opinions.
