Everyone knows that bikinis in Beach Volleyball at the Olympics just desperate pandering to attract TV viewing audiences. Just look what happens when the girls try to keep warm for games.
My point was that a few sexy outfits in FFXIV is fine -- if implemented in a relevant context. (I'd prefer they were restricted to NPCs though, Any time you introduce something to the players in an MMO, multiply it's effect by 2000x).
Think of it like Cayenne pepper... a dash in the right dish makes things spicy and interesting, a cup of it added to everything is revolting.
Sidenote: Funny thing. We are all regularly bombarded with instructions to eat healthier, don't smoke, buckle-up, recycle, exercise, don't be judgmental, give blood, stop eating meat, don't bully, reduce our carbon footprint, don't text while driving, hate the rich/banks/oil companies, eat organic, celebrate diversity, support public eduction via higher taxation, etc.
Whenever this happens, people generally listen and agree (or not) and then peaceably go about their business.
However, if you were to suggest that dressing/acting modestly might be a good thing as well, most of those same people will become indigent to the point of rage at the idea.
Ever wonder why?
I know this will be hard for you, but exercise common sense. This is a game full of conserative look. There previously were no sexy outfits at all, yet when they added one after players requested it, close minded individuals sought to impose their ideals on everyone else, rather than accept variety as a good thing. I know how feminist love to play the victim card, but look around you: You're the attempting oppressor here.
And here I thought feminism was about choice. Silly me.

Nice straw man you've got there.
Please separate reality and fantasy because not doing so is insanity.
I had written up this very long post to reply to you but it turned rather morbid and I'll just say this. People need to stop trying to be a holy knight. The dark ages are over and I believe we should be past trying to shove ideals down peoples throat. How people wish to treat their own bodies and lives is their choice and so long as no one else is greatly harmed by it then they should be free to do as they wish. When they're children parents and teachers try to teach them whats right or whats wrong but after a certain age it becomes the child's choice to decide whats right or wrong. No one here is a child and we all make our own choices on right or wrong. No one has the right to take away that choice.Beach Volleyball at the Olympics IS desperate pandering to attract TV viewing audiences. Everyone knows this.

I hope Neomarl keeps his word about not resubing, that would be sweet.
Troll, Stalker, Prude, Oppressor, Feminist, Fat Chick... anything else? Hitler maybe?
As I said, its odd how this particular subject seems to rile people up like nothing else.
My motivations however, have always been consistent. As a fan of the series, I want to see FFXIV live up to the prestige of its (largely) classy franchise history and not degenerate into some sort of digital fap gallery, WOW clone, or a cheap cross-promotional marketing whore.
This sums it up nicely.
Still, it's apparently dangerous business to get between someone and their perceived freedom to experience sexual jollies in a video game. So let's say we just agree to disagree... k?

I am guessing you lack humor.
Edit: I lack forum skills.

Funny thing is though is that it's more historically accurate for the roman collesium (god I know i spelled that wrong in someway) because most men wore little to nothing and a lot of times women went into fights topless. So they're doing that but not thinking of things in the historical sense either... *shrugs* either way I could care less how revealing it is it's not as revealing as the bikini's and there was less on that
