    One way SE can fulfill the OP's wish is to have Dalamud wipe out all the cutesy animals to extinction. Therefore there won't be any cutesy stuff in 2.0

    Snurbles are parasitic monsters that attach them selves to the spines of unfortunate animals, where they proceed to slowly feed upon the unfortunate creatures aetheric essence.

    You learn this from the flavor text off one of the Maelstrom Leves at Bald Knoll.

    Go ahead, hug the next snurble you meet.



    I'm sure the marmots are serial rapists too.

    Edit: Forgot to mention, they accomplish this with a needle like proboscis that they jam between the creatures vertebrae. Apparently this is the most direct way to get at that delicious aether juice.
