Yoshida did mention that the short yukatas are actually a Fashion Thing right now in japan! It's probably why they went with a short one, too.
the coliseum gear has even more cloth -.-
In no way am i ignoring your train of thought, myself would've preferred longer yukatas, but let's try to look at it from a game standpoint bypassing possible RP.
Yukatas wearing exactly meant to run in and there isn't a proper animation to walk/realistically walk with the yukata+sandals that are used with it normally. SE proved to us that yes, this engine can make longer robes/skirts with as few clipping issues as possible to make it look good.
But longer yukatas would be out of place in a game where 99% of chars run around all the time, and no proper animation + programming to make them walk realistically so right now shorter yukatas are the less time consuming way to implement them (i believe).
Also, yeah etc etc, service for the guys to look at with the possible small yukata + subligaria combos. (Also reinhart will be happy to flash some arse with his mini skirt.)
At-least it's what i think. Feel free to refute my arguments if proof of otherwise etc.
OP needs to watch this

Yes... Get upset over this gear. It's objectifying non-existent women... Wtf are you stoopid? There are women out there facing real oppression and victimization but your going to hop on a soap box about a video game. I take my previous question back and change it to a statement. You are stupid.
A long yukata can also kinda make your naughty bits get a bit swampy in the humid summer. Just sayin'.In no way am i ignoring your train of thought, myself would've preferred longer yukatas, but let's try to look at it from a game standpoint bypassing possible RP.

Peach Parfait/Khulan Angura on Gilgamesh
Hmm, I wonder if this Coliseum gear is gonna be related to the new Coliseum in Limsa coming in 2.0. Lore-wise, it wouldn't make sense with the Gladiator Guild's Coliseum in Uldah, because those combatants are more "armored up" in comparison. But as of now, it is out of place.
Like someone said before, it'll only be weird if true high level gear wound up becoming nothing more than a swimsuit for female characters.
On a completely random side note, I love how guys unironically use this excuse to play as a "sexy" female:
"B-but, if I'm gonna be staring at a character's ass whenever I play the game, I'd rather it be a girl's."

Well ok I only have to body. But its great :P
Where's that one guy that called all women sluts for wearing a bikini. I figured this would be a topic he'd make.
Zzzzzzzz.. It's kinda silly that you have been playing for as long as you have and one piece of gear makes you want to quit lol
Currently playing: Fire Emblem Awakening & Tales of Xillia.
