I was surprised at the announcement for eight characters per server under one subscription fee... Given the all jobs-craft -> one character concept.

Unless something unsane happens such as: Legacy characters can become multiple jobs. New characters created in 2.0 are restricted to one class, one craft.

Three characters at most to experience main story. Mayhap as many characters necessary to go through the main scenario with different path companions.

The multiple characters thing is huge for role players. With eight characters they can create a deeper cast of characters.

I suppose. I guess folks do things differently, i.e. making the NPCs behind their story and dressing them up accordingly to act out. It probably does beat imagining that the NPC is there haha.
