I'm sorry to bump in. But you're wrong in thinking the 90 day option was people's only choice. The 90 day subscription needed to be purchased by June 30th for those who had recently begun playing just before May 31 and were on their free trial. One must only pay for 90 days (total) prior to the start of 2.0 beta in order to qualify. So yeah, the 90-day subscription is not the only way. It was just for those that began playing last minute (aka right by May 31st).

Today's announcement was to notify players that the 90-day subscription option will be removed at the end of this month. Since that option may affect how some qualify for Legacy, we listed a few examples in the announcement.

It seems that those may have been unclear, so we prepared a more in-depth FAQ for all.

I have paid for 90 cumulative days of subscription since the start of billing; does that mean I qualify for the Legacy campaign?
Yes. You can confirm your Legacy status using one of three methods:
    • We will periodically send out notification emails to those that qualify for the Legacy campaign.
    • The Legacy logo will be displayed when logging into the Square Enix Account Management System and visiting the "FINAL FANTASY XIV" service account section found within the "Select Service" menu.
    • The Legacy logo will be displayed in the upper left corner of the Character Select screen when logging into the game.
I've paid for 30 cumulative days of subscription since the start of billing, what do I need to do to qualify for the Legacy campaign?
You will need to pay a further 60 days of subscription before the start of the version 2.0 beta test to be able to fulfill the requirements needed to qualify for the Legacy Campaign.

I played before the start of billing and I am no longer in my 30-day Free Trial period. What do I need to do to qualify for the Legacy campaign?
You will need to register a 90-day subscription option to your account before June 30th, 2012 to be able to fulfill the requirements needed to qualify for the Legacy Campaign.

Hopefully this will clear up any questions that you all might have!

I am aware that it is not their only choice as I just repeatedly purchased 30 days myself so you are right about that; however, the information that was posted basically outright said that the deadline is June 30. They turned it off because from that point on you cannot qualify for legacy any longer. If 30 days still qualified I'm sure they would of mentioned something about it or still allowed for the 90 day purchase, but again I cannot be any more clear and I do not understand why people are arguing: they said, outright, if you are a returning player, that is your deadline.

Edit: Hell, you just posted the direct quote yourself. Thank you.

By returning players they mean those that played before the start of billing. Say for example someone paid for a month, deactivated, just came back in June and will now pay for 2 more months by the end of July/August, they will still get Legacy.

Yeah, it's confusing but exactly why I emailed SE support to confirm that I would be able to pay for 90 days by the end of September.

I was just a little annoyed that Rjain implied the OP wasn't supporting SE when he stated in his post that he bought a collectors edition for full retail price. If that isn't supporting FFXIV I don't know what is.

And that does not apply to who I was speaking to.

Purchased the collector's edition? Nice. You get a hat, a journal, and some other stuff. That was your prize back then. But now, this Legacy campaign is for the players who stuck through the game through its P2P state while it was not in satisfactory condition. Purchasing a game, getting a couple of levels, saying it sucks and leaving not to come back until the last minute and missing out on a campaign intended for the players who stuck through the billing period, only to complain about missing said campaign, is not supporting SE.

Continuing to play and then paying to keep your sub active is one way of supporting lol. Buying a CE in 2010 doesn't necessarily say you support a company if you up and vanish thereafter.

Of course, it was only the tone that bothered me. I can relate to the OP and I imagine he's just frustrated that he's missing out on some cool bonuses despite buying the game LAST YEAR. I'm in a similar situation because I came back and used my free trial for my XIV account in June to play again. Only to find out about legacy a few days later and that I would not be billed before the end of June.

I don't fall under any of the FAQ policies so I'm trying to find out my situation :x

Considering I know people who are playing on registered accounts that didn't buy anything at all, I think he's entitled as a customer to express his frustration.

I bought FFXIV on release and dropped money for the collectors edition and pretty much felt cheated with the state of the game like most people. I stuck around on and off for a while with the extended free trial but didn't have the money to spend on the game once it was lifted.

I recently came back and learned about the legacy status thing and wanted to know about exactly how it works. Most people seem to think that the end of September is when the servers will go down and thats then last chance.

Now I resubbed yesterday and have enough for 3 months but surely if its paying for 3 months then when I get billed in the beginning of September for my 3rd month I should be eligible ?

If I have to wait till the end of my 30 days then its kind of stupid, they already have my money and I don't see how this can really be a sorry for the poor state of the game when someone could buy a copy online very cheap can gain Legacy by buying a a copy in the last month or two.

In short I'm a bit mad and hoping I can get Legacy as it might actually keep me sticking around a bit and finally settling on a character rather than making new ones over and over again after not being able to pay (unfortunately the extra ££ add up for me at the minute). I really hope I'm in time for this and I still think people that registered their keys nearer the original release should have has to maybe pay for only 60 days or something seeing as copies of the game go for around £5 now.

Sorry I cant tell if I'm angry or fearful I wont get a chance to drop more money on the game.
It's not about dates. It's about how long you paid. If you paid for a total of 90 days you will qualify. If you only played for free etc, it won't count. It's 90 paid days. If you never paid and as of today decided you want to start at July 13th, you won't qualify. To anyone that never paid and wanted to be a legacy, you had to start by June 30th, which was the last day and keep paying for 90 days.

    That's it. /thread

You milked till the last minute the free play and now you complain you don't qualify? That's what's wrong with America. People think they are entitled to things which they aren't. Everyone that follow final fantasy knew about the legacy campaign and everyone got emails explaining how it works. Now after all this time to come and start complaining about frustration... Gimme a break...

How many of you ever read your car manual? Yes, cars have manuals... Why am I asking?

So you don't complain that you got ripped off by the mechanic when you take it there...
