    I have to say that as many fond memories I have about it, it sucked. Those points I just mentioned sucked hard, anything and everything you did suffered very harsh inteference from other players that just wanted to be asses, you were so afraid to use your good gear anywhere, anytime, because you could loose it that you pretty much did not have it. And hell, they removed the dynamic fauna thing because of the unexpected side-effect it had of causing the entire fauna and flora of the game to die because players wanted to go out and ANNIHILATE EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE.
    there are actually a few games out there that still do total open world games such as Mortal Online, and Drakfall Online. These types of games are always very very heavy in PvP and are unfortunately not very successful. You will also not see a lot of PvE content in these types of games either.

    This game also failed horribly and is being redone from the ground up with input from the community. Whatever was announced back then was (hopefully) tanakas vision. Now we are getting a completely new game from Yoshida.

    Yoshidas 3 pillars sound a lot different then that whole "intended to be casual" stuff. I remember them saying that though. Lol the horrible "fatigue" system was there to try to keep some weird balance between hardcore and casual. So ya I REALLY hope they aren't sticking with the made for casuals mostly idea...thats what made the game fail in the first place imo..

    You need to remember their focus is 2.0, not before hand.... so they are not interested in adding anything till then. 2.0 I'm sure you will see something. I'm a fan of open world too but most people need to realize the team is working around the clock to manage something that they didn't start out with. I'm sure 2.0 will please most crowds, and if not then sad to say but can't please everyone. The current team has worked wonders and 2.0 looks amazing, cant wait! What comes comes, and if it's not for everyone then there are plenty of other mmos to go back to or try hehe. Placing pressure and trying to get a rise out of the crowd can't make them work any faster. I say let them do their job and be patient enough to wait for the fast approaching 2.0 version of FFXIV. To say again content before 2.0 is just something they will put together fast in order to maintain patience amongst the game players and give them a little something to place their time in "A time sink" till they can release their prized work "2.0".

    All I'm pointing out your wording makes you look a little impatient and as if there is some sort of issue to be had with the current direction of the game come 2.0. Everyone has their own personal views they want to see happen in 2.0. So my response was based of your word usage.

    I wouldn't worry about it anyhow, I'm sure they will add something more to your taste at or soon after 2.0. More or less they want everything to be somewhat of a surprise to the gamers and general crowd at this very moment. I figure its better that way. I'm not a fan of everything they have done, nor do I expect to be. Patience is key however... and understanding. For the most part I see it the other way around majority of the player base's patience and understanding of the game has increased, also shown by the many returning customers/players lol.

    It was the lack of content, and clumpy UI that is at fault. It has nothing to do with casual gameplay. You should read more of Yoshi-P interviews. They're floating around somewhere.

    If you understand the fatigue system, people wont be running through 1 to 50 in a matter of weeks. Even though it wasn't a perfect system you can still level other classes while one class fatigue resets.
