i am just going to troll your thread because i read OP and i dont like the title

leave repairs the way they are. weve already been through the shitter when they changed it to DM for all repairs. if you dont like it. this isnt the game for you lol

some of us dont do battle content as much as others and strive where others have fallen. take the repair system for what it is, because i think its good to add another dimension to the game, one thing i didnt like at first either, but have learned to grow and use it.

Here is the issue at hand: you have different options to do your repairs. Now you can level DOH, you can stand in town, stand in town and shout, ask you linkshell or go to the repair npc. Hmmm whats the issue? If you say: I dont want to level DOH, or I am tired of shouting in town/standing, I dont ask my linkshell, or I dont wanna spend gil to do repairs, that is a choice YOU have made, its ur own fault period!!! Leave repairs as they are with minor tweeks, repairs can stay as far as I am concerned with minor tweeks on gear taking damage. Now I listed alot of ways that you can get your gear repaired it isnt hard and yes it will require the use of some gil but if you dont want to do any of the above dare I say it: Stop being lazy go far, go level or ASK a friend or an LS member for repairs most will be more than happy to fix your gear.

I'd actually like to play devils advocate here and suggest to the majority of people posting here that they look at this from a new players point of view or someone who is coming from another MMO.

In that position would you still think the current repairs system is intuitive and accessible.

It's easy for us long term veterans to say phhfft level a craft or get used to it, but its this kind of thing that turned so many people off the game to begin with.

SE really need to nail this stuff down before 2.0 unless they want to turn players away from their game again.

    Quoted for relevance.

Of course I'm not agreeing with the OP to remove repairs or durability, but they most definitely need to change the way repairs work and streamline the whole process.

Saying "leave it the way it is" is not going to work if they want a more user friendly experience in 2.0 and I hope they realise this.

i think repair system is nice, we just need a distant repair system, like an option in the main menu: any DoH can and see whos seeking repairs, and repair their stuff without having 2 b there.

I said a while ago, but I still think grades of dark matter should be removed and just have one dark matter item. Its a bit annoying having five inventory slots taken up for grades 1 2 3 4 5.... and then bear in mind half the server is overflowing with several stacks of grade 5 dark matter these days ....

Or just remove dark matter completely and perform repairs using shards which are also overflowing and easy to get.

That could also pave the way for a mini enchantment system, repair your gear with ice shards and you get an ice spike or en-blizzard effect until the item goes to 0% or is repaired again. In that sense, repairing an item wouldnt really have the negative connotation it has now, it would be turned into a buff type system.

My point is not everything in a video game has to have an anchor "in real life," nor should we always look to reality as a guideline to determine whether something is good and correct.

Players stroll by you everyday with 50 in every class and don't repair simply because they don't want to--and that's their business. Nothing is robbed from players if every DoH can repair everything. The economic purpose of repairs is still intact; a wider net is cast if every DoH of appropriate level can repair your gear. What do I stand to lose if this happens? What do you stand to lose? Who would be worse off if a leatherworker could repair your sword?

I don't even see the person who repairs me half the time. Why would I hunt them down and criticize them for fixing my gear even though the class was "incompatible?" Shouldn't I be grateful my gear was repaired so quickly? Shouldn't you?

Wouldn't we all be so lucky if we could raise the realism blockade on this singular, cumbersome, mind-numbing game mechanic?

If you had read my post after that post to you which again you only posted a partial quote i hate when people do that but whatever. YOu would have seen that I'd give way if the person has level'd all the doh to a certain level and got some type of key item to be able to repair items up to a certain lvl. But I don't want a cheapen the game by making it too easy for everyone to do whatever they want whenever they want. That would be like trying to make Ifrit with 1 hp and let everyone go in whenever they want without a cooldown. I'll agree with terms and conditions like jobs but I refuse to allow people who want to level one doh or not all of them to be able to repair everything in the game.

Player Poll spoke the truth with what we want and that isn't what we want. Period end of story. I"m sorry if you're wanting everything handed to you on a silver platter but honestly I want to work for my achievements. And if that means I have to level every doh to be able to do it then I will but honestly I probably won't not at this point in time at least because I'm not interested in it and yes i'd still have some things grounded and based in reality because without reality there is no fantasy. Hell if you want why not just say get rid of all the humanoid looking races that we place and create pure fantasy ones like half ape half dragons. With whatever else oh wait that's right that's based in reality too because apes a real hmmm what a conundrum there.

Now do you have any further compuncture on this. If so please feel free to reply.

I'm still fine with the repairs as it is. I've played multiple games that required you to repair your gear upon damage and quite frankly the only one i've EVER played that didn't require was 11 but the death toll was harsh in there with the loss of exp and de leveling . This one I can stand the repairs since it is cheap to do and money is so easy to come by.
