Firon smells more dice roll content and a war x4 and whm x4 aoe spam fest!

You said in one line what I consider the most flawed concept that was unfortunately introduced in Eorzea (the core of the crêppy Speed Runs, as well). And when I read that:

“This drill tests a squad’s ability to quickly locate and eliminate a large number of foes within the specified time limit.”

...the first thing I thought was that at least one of the islands could be another Warriors/Black Mages/Jobs stacking AoE Spam Feast.

Of course, I hope it won't be another content wasted in such a manner. It looks very interesting and, being an Explorer, visiting 2 new islands of the Cieldalaes really excites me, so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Something else I noticed from the screenshots and the description of the event. Are we going to catch a glimpse of some possible tropical islands like Purgonorgo Isle (That bibiki bay island from ffxi)? Also reminds me of the background used in one of those wallpapers for the summer event.

These are islands around La Noscea but they are actually new 'areas'? Dunno if they are used before.

There is an island instance used in the Armorer quest line. Might be what is used for this. Sounds like it could be fun. Why more weapons though?

Yeah these new islands should be "new" (as in new to us but they've been in the .dats all along)

The Cieldalaes are a string of small islands to the southeast of La Noscea. I guess these ones are apparently too small to be inhabited, but some of them are, because it's mentioned in lore that Limsa does trade with the Cieldalaes.

I wonder why they're adding all these weapons, we have quite a few sets now. Maybe it's to prevent that everyone is running around with the same weapons *shrug*.
