Seriously a Re-size that's it? I have defended peoples lack of time to work on said issues but in 6 months all you can come up with is a Re-size of the battle animations? That to me seems like an enormous waste of time.
Conjurer and Thurmaturge animations are atrocious. Hell I would have settled for a complete rip and recode of the FFXI animations that game is 10 years old and at least they still look good.
Animations are something your users have been complaining about since Alpha. You guys in the development team did not listen to your testers then, and judging by the "re-size" you are obviously not listening to us now. You need to completely rework all battle animations. It has been said multiple times and stressed numerous times on these forums.
After 6 months on a new development team this is perhaps one of the most uninspiring things I have seen come out of your group. I only hope future updates are not this terrible.

I just hope the effects don't become to guady or over compesating i wanna play a game not see ultra mega full feature film mega effects. Sorery explosions are not my thing. I like light touches. And magic is infact not epic gaudy.
the character animations are also fine. Those are done in motion capture and actors acted them all out, so fixing them will not be easy. And also for the record, minus a few weapon skills. ffxi had alot of reused animations
More noticable were sword wreapon skills the character is doing the same downward slash for the first 3. There are only so many ways to swing a weapon so animations are going to be reused.
EXPLOSION!
This isn't exactly the information I was waiting on, but whatever. I'd kind of like to see that dev image though...
Good point there. Let's see If more people read that : /how to you get these spells and at what level? Just because they use similar names DON"T make them acient magic. Like quake in ff8 was from the brothers and needed float to avoid it. I think this is again ppl stuck in ffxi. In ffxi those were acient magics and getting them wasn't easy. They hand long cast times consumed a tone of mp and did a ton of dmg. More so with a magic burst.
unless ffxiv also classifies them as an AM, then yes you got a point. But so far it seems like you see name flare or quake then automatically think of ffxi. Recall in post ff games where holy was a massive spell? yet in ffxi it isn't.
Resize spells is um.... not what we are expecting, but well, at least is something that takes no time from Dev to do, and improve a little the magic animations right now. I don't see a problem there : /
What people want is a patch that includes a totally new battle system, totally new Animations for the Whole game, hours and hours of new content, adjustement of all the classes, gear, stats Points... and I won't continue because there are so much things.
You people expect a patch with all that?? Because If not, I don't understand why everytime SE do some minor changes on anything, threads are opened to tell how stupid dev team is, and how they are wasting they time. Dunno, dev team is working hard, they are doing things, changing and working on major changes needed, and in the meantime they take some little time to do a minor improvements.
You may be grateful, instead of attacking every little change they do.
I'm The First and The Last...
I'm Alpha and Omega...
I'm the Beginning...and The End..
If this came with a disclaimer letting us know that it was only a temporary solution while they worked on redoing the battle and spell effects then I think it would go over a lot better. As it stands now just releasing this piece of information by itself without any context makes it pretty disappointing, at least to me.
A) Your "the new team was in place weeks before the announcement" is an assumption at best, a bad one at worst. Tanaka was still on a PR tour a week before the announcement, talking about the same things he had talked about for who knows how long.
B) Even if the change happened in early December (and by "change" I mean "the formal announcement, and afterwards the total restructural of the development process and the management", something that isn't done in a day even in the best case, a month+ sounds far more likely), from early December to early April is 4 months. From early November to late April would be 6 months. You think that 30th of November is "one month" and April 6th is "one month". Hilarious.
So, 4 months at best, 3 months at worst (the change in development did not happen overnight). Plus the two weeks delay due to the disaster.
Excellent thought process there, champ.
