If it's any consolation, I picked up the poster this morning, logged out in Ul'dah's inn, and came back 4 hours later without getting a cut scene. So, you're not alone.

You have to log off using the bed in Ul'dah. The sequence is Ul'dah -> Grid -> LL.

Ok, I got mine to work. Here's a silly question for the OP. Are you going into the inn and logging out via the menu, or are you interacting with the bed and selecting exit game or return to character select from the menu that pops up that way?

If you're not interacting with the bed, try that.
