Physical/regional servers FINALLY confirmed ??! (Y)

"Moving on from strictly mechanical questions, the issues of several players regarding physical server locations was noted. While Yoshida could make no firm comment at the time, he stated that the team is well aware of the issues regarding time zones and lag most notable for European gamers. He also noted that gamers affected by these issues should look for some announcement regarding it within the next two months."

They finally admitted that western players, expecially euro ppl, have notable lag (i'm italian, and i can confirm this ) .

They're still thinking about this anyway, but saying that we should look for some announcement within the next two months, is already good think...

I can't think about an announcement that says something like:

"We're sorry, we know that you western players have issues, but after we invested milions of $$$ in this project, we cannot help you anymore." So i'm positive about this..

Well I'm no big fan of regional Servers. I like playing international and hope they can find other ways to reduce the lag

If the game moves to regional servers and gives me no option of a world-wide server it will probably be the end for me.

Response times come far lower on my list of must have in a community drivin game than things like being able to play with people from all around the world.

Don't worry they can do this still all that matters is optimized servers. At best they'll do what they did with ragnarok, create servers that's more suited for a group of x playtime players.

Aside that, there was nothing confirmed in that, other than what they restated from last year: Current servers suck, new servers will fix the problem.

I suppose that the transfer to regional server will be a player choice. Naah, i'm sure about this.

i will cross my fingers that they just tweak the netcode a bit for people that care about some milliseconds, but regional servers gets a big NO from me!
A Global community where you can do stuff at any time of the day with people from around the globe is worth much more.
And i am from Europe, apparently we have the legendary "worst latency", not that i ever noticed it to be honest.

I would really love this, I have no interest at all playing with Japanese because most often they dont have interest playing with English, it makes things much more difficult as I dont speak language.

Things like the Ragnarok Server should not be hosted in Japan, the purpose if it is for European Players (or that timezone) so it should be hosted in the EU to reduce latency.

This can work, works in lots of games. You can have "World Servers" but supply some regional ones that are not only "Recommended" like Ragnarok, but also physically placed.

I see no problem with giving people a choice of playing on a server with people in their own language or region and playing on a server with people from all regions.
