Oh the irony is thick with this.

Your playing a MMO, in the same terms you are wasting months doing something that really has no benefit. Some people do it for fun, some people just do it to kill time.

Don't like the content that's fine but don't get all upity on everyone who feels this is worth the effort.

I knew this response was coming. Kudo's for throwing it out so early as useless as it is.

Any video game is inherently a waste of time we all know this. In an MMO the trick is creating content that is worthwhile outside of having you look cool that contributes overall to your progression and makes the player feel that their investment is worthwhile. In an interesting and compelling fashion. This is not compelling nor challenging.

Sighing in relief that you've finally procured an item through luck is not good game design. Trying to defend it otherwise is insane. Do this grind, enjoy it (somehow) but don't fucking excuse this bullshit as good game design.

At least in FFXI there were drops that required teamwork and hard work to get. Yes, there were grinds but it wasn't 100% grind like all the current content here is.

Don't pull out fallicies like people are "Wasting their time" on a game designed to waste time it's hillarious. In your context just because the relic weapons will take a while to get (That's up for debate if they change anything or not during this update) One part of it actually does have visible progress (The seals) while we are currently unaware of how poor the seal drop-rate will be on level 3 (If they include it)

Your jumping to all sorts of conclusions without all the information and making an ass our of yourself by insulting members of the community who are doing the exact same thing as you. Speculating.

So I reiterate, relax on the insults we understand you think the system is bad as it stands that's all you need to say. Just because people don't agree with you doesn't make them any less right/wrong/smart/dumb than you are. Who cares if someone else thinks it's good game design? Hell I think jumping is a useless feature but I don't call people morons for thinking otherwise...god damn wish people could try to get their point across on these forums without jumping allover other people.

I don't have to insult the community. They do a good job of that themselves sometimes with their ridiculous requests. With some of the people on these forums you have to be a jerk. If you look at my post history each and every one of my posts is well constructed and thought out, hence the many likes I receive. Even my first post in this thread which you seemed to take as a attack on your integrity was well-thought out.

Again, you seem to be going back to the argument that an MMO is a waste of time. EVERY GODDAMN video game is a waste of time, but the job of a good developer is to work it in a way that is enjoyable. Even a MMO developer should take pride in creating varied content that stimulates the player-base in a way that the majority enjoy doing content. Judging from the various critics and poll results, people are not satisfied with the RNG and luck based grinding system that is currently implemented in FFXIV.

You say I'm speculating? These are the FACTS that we know. You need 9 seals total. Seals drop from hamlet, drops are not 100%. Those are undeniable facts. I've based my comments on these facts. Speculation is whether or not the drop rate is increased as the hamlet levels up or if it remains at primal levels like it is now. Regardless, the facts are that it is currently a full-out grind for the seals and forces the player-base to do Hamlet which many dislike.

And I didn't insult a particular individual. My insults extend to the people who stand up for this type of game design and defend it instead of CHALLENGING the devs to create thought-provoking content.

Think for a second. If nobody did this because they refused to put up with the design, the devs would be forced to look at their current system and inquire as to where they went wrong. This would lead to better content for all of us. However, because some of these people are indeed like crackheads and will slavishly grind this out, the devs will be able to defend the content as 'challenging.'

Other than that I'll let you wallow in your hatred of everything while I go on enjoying the game and telling the developers where I think they can improve instead of attacking the community as well.

But I am giving constructive criticism to the developers. See my post history. I also don't hate this game contrary to what you believe. My other posts addressed the things the devs should not rely on.

But basically your crying because I insulted the community. Awwwwww muffin. I wasn't even being vitriolic, I was just calling people out for their passivity with regards to bad game design. Besides, the insults toward certain members of the community were not the meat of my posts in this thread. The main point was discussing the design flaws in the current system. You make it out to seem that my entire purpose in this thread was to troll the community and call them idiots.
