I think if SE made a remake of FF7 without changing everything only the older players and hardcore fans would like it.
Mainstream would say it is grindy and has boring combat.

What he was saying is the new generation will not like FF7 anymore because of its grindyness and boring combat (which is true if you compare to newer game). Mainstream changes throughout time.
True story! Most Japanese developers use Tokyo Game Show for their huge news, given as it's in Japan, and they're Japanese.
E3 is a joke anymore, it's all about getting the biggest name you can afford to promote Call of Duty 4: Black Ops 2: Modern Warfare 3: The Expansion 6.
Final Fantasy XIV was first announced during the Sony Press Conference in 2009. It was only mentioned there because it was "Sony Exclusive" and fit in with the trailer for Final Fantasy XIII. If it wasn't being made for the PlayStation 3, it wouldn't have even been mentioned at E3.

Yup and that's the dilemma SE has with a FF7. A lot of pple want it and there is a lot of money to be made there but they cannot just do a port with better graphics and the game would have to be perfect.
Its a big risk and it could damage the game's reputation which is regarded as the best SE game and one of the best games ever made.
The problem with remakes its not gonna be the same game then we gonna have people bitching how SE ruined the game. Some people did not play FF7 so a remake would be nice. I would love to experience the game in HD graphics.
Sadly SE stated that they had no intention of doing a remake. They said they would need a team of 300 pple and at least 5 years to remake the game but that they would only do it if they were sure it would be as good or better than the original.
Edit: Also just porting the game with better gfx isnt gonna work it would have to be a whole new game cause the older FF use pre rendered back rounds etc.

People still arguing about if E3 is considered global or not? On E3's main site they have a video interviewing people...and one of them says "It is the biggest global video game event" well I guess they consider it global..
People say things all the time like, "Burger King have it your Way, the best tasting burger ever" but is it really the best Tasting burger ever? :P /sarcasm Or even when Car dealership sell their Cars, and they say these are the best cars in the world? but are they really? :P
Final Fantasy VII was never all that special to begin with. People need to remove their nostalgia goggles, because they can make you believe some crazy things, like Final Fantasy VII deserving a remake.
It was an alright game when it came out. It's time to move on, better games have come and gone.

As for VII no being a big deal, you my friend need to get informed.

"Since 1997, Final Fantasy VII has been selected by many game magazines—including Electronic Gaming Monthly,[100] IGN[101] and GameSpot[31]—as one of the best and most important video games of all time, and has placed at or near the top in many reader polls of all-time best games.[88][102] Upon its release in 1997, it was referred to by GameFan as "quite possibly the greatest game ever made...," a quote which continues to feature prominently on the back cover of the game's jewel case.[103] In 2000, it was voted the "Reader's Choice Game of the Century" in an IGN poll.[89] In January 2005, it was selected by Electronic Gaming Monthly as sixth on their list of "the 10 most important games ... that helped redefine the industry since ... 1989". Citing its "beautiful cut-scenes and a deep, introspective narrative", they claimed that "Square’s game was ... the first RPG to surpass, instead of copy, movie-like storytelling." In late 2007, Dengeki PlayStation named Final Fantasy VII as the "best story", "best RPG", and "best overall game" in their retrospective awards feature about the original PlayStation.[85] GamePro named it the fourteenth most important and most innovative video game of all-time,[104][105] as well as the best RPG title of all time.[91] Final Fantasy VII placed second in the "Top 100 Favorite Games of All Time" poll by Japanese magazine Famitsu during March 2006,[106] while users of the video game website GameFAQs voted Final Fantasy VII as the "Best Game Ever"[87] in November 2005 and in 2004,[86] and placed second in 2009.[107] GameSpot ranked it at the top in its list of most influential games in 2001.[88] GamePro also featured it in their article "The 30 Best PSN Games" as one of the most downloaded games from the PlayStation Network.[108] The game also made #15 on Game Informer's Top 200 Games of All Time,[109] and came second place on Empire's "100 Greatest Games of All Time" list behind Super Mario World.[110] It also appeared in the top ten of other all-time greatest games lists, including GAME, VG Chartz, Stuff, GameTrailers, GamePro, Retro Gamer, and Game Informer.[88] In 2011, it was voted #8 in Famitsu's poll of most tear-inducing games of all time.[111]"
And you thought that SE made so many spin-off games and a movie out of the game because it was just alright?
