The game developers didn’t forget about you, they gave you everything you needed to decide if the game was for you. You had hundreds of hours of gameplay to walk away knowing this game wasn’t for you.

You hit the nail on the head really. The game is too old, and Yoshida is a proven slumlord. Verbally advising people to break SE's own ToS is his own form of unilateral action. We don't have any checkbox for "Yoshi P live statements" when we sign up for the game. It's just the ToS and the Privacy Policy. It really calls into question what this whole thread is even about because why are people so upset if their dear leader completely condones their use of plugins?

It comes across more like tone policing or wanting to control the situation when TC has a valid point even if they raise a bunch of subjective opinions with it. I've mentioned this before, but for example, you can turn titles off, so I don't personally understand this criticism either.

Also, the person who seemed most upset over my post is in other threads, calling the dev team lazy about emergency updates. So I don't see a problem with what's being said about them here.

Mods started getting big in 2017, so what kept you until 2026?

If anyone wanted to find some real meaning beyond virtual points in an MMO, then try a new hobby, ideally something away from tech overall since the idea that someone else can use their own PC and their own paid sub is actually extremely upsetting to OP and everyone else here. No one can take the exp of learning guitar away from you too.

This is not “how it’s always been” and it’s not “just how MMOs are”.

I don’t want to hear any more excuses on behalf of the billion-dollar company.

I want the game to be designed better, I want anti-cheat implemented, I want cheaters banned and botting exterminated, I want meaningful moderation. I want our level of skill to be rewarded and for our achievements to mean something. I want to be able to interact with others without fear of punishment. I want this MMO to actually be an MMO, and I want this game that I love to do and be better.

Something tells me that you aren't going to play that game where all this is implemented

No it doesn't. You're just blowing hot air. If you had reasons for disagreeing beyond "I don't care about this" then it would add something to the discourse. Or if you're saying you don't think it's worth SE's time figuring out solutions to get rid of widespread cheating to protect the games eco-system, then I suppose you have added something. Not anything worth discussing, but something.

Anyway, to stay on topic. I do agree with what was mentioned regarding SE developing their own set of in game mod functionalities maybe similar to what WoW has done (WoW also restricted this further recently as they felt people had too much power from function) so that they can have some measure of control over what is able to be done and what isn't. It'd be a good compromise between what we have now and having no plugins/mods at all. Though I admit I have little faith in them implementing anything like that in a way that actually feels like a compromise or is to a satisfactory standard.
