I can't wait for the game to become easier for casual and solo players. I don't like having 25+ skills. I want 10 max. I'd also be okay with removing stats on gear entirely and make it completely cosmetic.

That's not gonna happen here. The community requires players to be a comfort pillow, for their emotions. I am not willing to give up my personality to make someone else comfortable. Because I am no longer allowed to be comfortable being myself so someone else can feel comfortable..I went back to Old School Runescape last month and it blows my mind how much more chill the community over there is. Call me crazy, but I really do believe the NA FF14 community would benefit from an influx of more bro-ish players. I want to go into more detail about what I mean by this, but I feel like it'll be taken the wrong way.
So instead , i'm just going to be a louder version that is just going to say , the quiet part out loud. And the uncomfortable truth that the community will not admit to. Psychological reactance. i\nReally?Don't appreciate that everything I do.And everything that I joke about is perceived as offensive. I like jokes , especially the ones that have an element of truth to it. But since im not allowed to joke , I'll just drop the joke and just cut straight to the truth.
So I have no issue calling the community hypocritical and thematically dishonest while also so being socially authoritarian, while trying to pose it as social progressivism.. this community is no better than world of warcrafts community , it's toxicity is just hidden under a veneer of passive , aggressive language.and social policing via forced social conformity or outcasting.
The community welcomes a wide breath of identities, but a very narrow band of personality.

My final fantasy hot take- Im still fighting Zenos and dawn trail is a fever dream were both having and laughing about as the high from our fight is wearing off and hes asking me stupid shit about my adventures and this is what we came up with so were both slowly dying and having a jacob ladder moment.
You open the door theres nothing in sight. You close the door wondering whats in sight. But lets be honest its probably gonna just let you down.

This is my exact headcanon. My final fantasy hot take- Im still fighting Zenos and dawn trail is a fever dream were both having and laughing about as the high from our fight is wearing off and hes asking me stupid shit about my adventures and this is what we came up with so were both slowly dying and having a jacob ladder moment.
WoW players made the community a lot worse.
Midcore is when you take a look at an Ultimate, nod along sagely to a guide and decide to do it when you get 12 months of uninterrupted vacation, which is to say: never.
One of the my biggest hot takes is that the normal group content is simply way too easy to the point where most of the mechanics can be either ignored completely or simply skipped entirely.
I know i can just do endgame content but i simply refuse to them because i don't want make other players very angry at me for not doing everything perfectly.

The slow pace of content coupled with how poorly implemented the gear/reward system is makes it impossible to have a real static and pf is a blight. I literally stopped doing endgame content because sitting in PF for an hour only to have the group disband after 1 pull because someone messed up is infuriating and makes me not want to do anything that requires strats or communication. I want to go back to the days we had statics and guilds.
But guilds were killed by discord which is one of the biggest losses we have had in mmos the past decade. We really need vent and sites like guildwork back. Their limits made guilds better.
Players in general are also too scared of challange or discomfort. Fights should be difficult and rewards should be rewarding. But rewards are lackluster and so many ppl seem to think anything that causes the most minor amount of stress should be stripped from the game. That stress is what makes a game like this fun and those dopamine hits after completing something or getting a specific drop were amazing. Now everything is designed to be easy and the dopamine hits are so common they don't actually hit anymore. I don't even remember the last time I stood up at my desk and did a little dance because I finally got the drop I was after. These days I get something, think "got it, cool" and move on because everything is so easy to get and none of it really matters since I am just going to drop it in a couple months anyway.
Yeah, like. I'm an asshole, but I'm not that flavor of asshole, y'know? It's a wholly different mindset and it made both the general as well as the raiding environment kind of a cesspit. COVID was already making people more on edge, but the combination of that plus WoW players was too much. Frankly, anyone who came off of Asmongold's streams was probably not a good fit for the community.

Let's be fair. WoW players and FFXIV players both have their toxic elements, but just in completely different ways. Either way though, both bring the game down. I honestly haven't really noticed any real difference after the WoW ppl came in due to not being a raider I assume. But I notice it a lot with the influx of players that came in around HW and after. I remember the days I could actually help ppl out, help them learn and grow. Now, can't do that so much.Yeah, like. I'm an asshole, but I'm not that flavor of asshole, y'know? I think a lot of it on both sides is ppl just need to get a thicker skin because you both lash out at the slightest of things, just in different ways. One gets offensive, one get offended and both are exhausting.
