Righr? She really does sound like a Karen. The game strips you of rights?
You don't think that's a bit of gross hyperbole?
Square has gone above and beyond to really look out for the player experience here. They're stripping you rights because you don't have the exact type of social blocking features?
I think its pretty robust. But because they didn't give you the perfect one.You wanted , it's a microaggression against you? You're like purity testing the people who are on your side.
I

If you people ignored and blacklisted the person who’s harassing you then life would be so much easier for you. So what if they park outside your Ffxiv house 24/7? Let them be there, pretend you don’t see them. Just do your own thing and they will get bored eventually. Oh, and also stop sharing everything about your real life with people you meet online for your own good. Can’t believe I’m saying this…
I've never actually seen something someone said in regards to FFXIV and genuinely thought the best advice that could be offered was to stop playing altogether, but here we are. There is absolutely a point where game and RP spaces are turning into a cesspool of toxicity for an individual player and I think getting wrathful that SE is not bringing in the FBI or interpol to go after the weird people that won't leave you alone in FFXIV because of free trials is well and truly past that point.

I was FINALLY able to get some time with my FC lead to check this and learn a bit more about the ins and outs of it.That doesn't seem right at all. I can't see any reason why it why it shouldn't work the same way for FCs; the in-game documentation doesn't say anything about private estates and FCs working differently. May be worth figuring out where it's breaking and bug report it. Maybe I'll see if my FC lead has time to poke at it with me so we can see if we can bug report it too.
Main upshot: it DOES work in FCs. The auto-barring of characters is not bugged.
The Primary Rightsholder can designate several Secondary Rightsholders to control the barred characters list. The Primary Rightsholder can, in addition, allow their own and the secondary rightsholders' blacklists to automatically add a blacklisted character to the barred characters list. Therefore, characters blacklisted by the rightsholders (should that box be ticked on) will be permanently banned from the FC house, so long as that option remains in place. It does take a second to zorch the character off the property, but it does work, and it works automatically with no need to add a character to the barred list manually.
Probably what happened when TwizzlyTwist tested it was the same thing that happened when I and my FC lead did--the changes don't seems to actually take effect until the rightsholder changes zones. So when my FC lead left the house and went back in, my test character was suddenly zapped away when before the test character was free to run around.
Anyway, I am happy to know it works correctly and happy to let other people know it works correctly. It won't stop a stalker from making new characters on an unrelated account to hassle people, but it does completely bar them, permanently, on the blacklisted account.

Funny how some people think FFXIV GMs are overreaching for banning Xeno (the bald guy), and even the Roach King is against it.
Yet in the same breath, there are also this thread where people question why FFXIV GMs are so inactive when it comes to issues outside the game.
That contradiction........

Looked like a lot of the complaint here (including the OP many moons ago) was about in-game behavior not being adequately addressed.Funny how some people think FFXIV GMs are overreaching for banning Xeno (the bald guy), and even the Roach King is against it.

What even is this thread. Someone is getting harassed and a bunch of you come here with deflections and victim blaming and those who stand up for the person being harassed are getting their words twisted and called Karens?? Hello?
It does not matter what they're doing if the person is uncomfortable with it. Someone they have blacklisted is spamming their message book and being around them non stop and that's a problem. You don't get to decide for someone else what is and isn't acceptable, I had someone chase me around because they really liked my character, I blacklisted them and they just made a new character to ask why I did what I did. This was before the changes but still, sometimes people act very nice and friendly and turn out to be total creeps once they feel comfortable enough. You're acting like you've never judged a character wrong in your life.
I've had someone message me after FL because I killed them twice and he was salty enough to tell me to off myself multiple times.
Argue all you want, the fact is, stalking in this game is INCREDIBLY easy and while people can't "physically" harm you, they can bully you enough in many ways to mentally harm you.
If you blacklist someone you shouldn't even SEE Unknown 01. THEY shouldn't be able to see you on their friends list anymore, they should be automatically blocked from your estate forever. They have made efforts to make the game better in regards to privacy and safety, but they've got a long way to go still.
Whether you're joking or not, this is incredibly rude and you should genuinely be ashamed of yourself.
You also say "don't go to venues" when I was a Viera I got a tell in LIMSA when I was just going to the market board from someone asking if I could be their "dom" because my character was "So hot" this behavior is not strictly unique to venues some people are genuinely that unhinged.
You clearly have no idea what kind of psychotic people are out there, but keep living in your bubble, I guess.

I think you severely underestimate the lengths with which people will go to harass and stalk people digitally. I also think you severely underestimate at what point someone will willingly stalk another. If you people ignored and blacklisted the person who’s harassing you then life would be so much easier for you. I would have thought past experiences on this game with the development of certain plugins to essentially enable stalking would have made this perfectly clear tbh.

It depends how you react to it. If you let them bother you then they will, if you ignore them completely then eventually they will stop. If you suspect that they are using plugins for stalking purposes then report them.I think you severely underestimate the lengths with which people will go to harass and stalk people digitally. And even when they make completely new Ffxiv accounts and show up in your face keep blacklisting them. It’s really that easy… This is the internet and if you are smart enough no one will be able to do anything to you. The sick people thrive on reactions people give them.

And quite honestly, as much as I do empathize with those targeted with this gratuitous harassment, but it does get to a point where the Devs and the safeguards put into place can only do so much for regular gameplay. It depends how you react to it. If you let them bother you then they will, if you ignore them completely then eventually they will stop. If you suspect that they are using plugins for stalking purposes then report them.

Most normal people - if you black list them or they are black listed from those you associate with ought to get the hint they aren't welcome.
If they are using plugins to somehow bypass this feature, or make whole new accounts to harass you in game that stops being just an ordinary interaction into something more serious and criminal, I'd say.
Squareenix can always improve, there's no doubt about that, but it's the same as with the concept of having Police Officers in real life. Just because we have rules/laws/ and means to stop infractions of law we are ultimately powerless to prevent them from happening.
Higher orders must be taken into account if you wish to not be harassed that go beyond the scope the Squareenix could ever hope to manage.
