Why would someone be upset with 15-20min MSQ dungeons vs getting trapped in an extreme trial?

CT hogs the whole of the roulette and sucks all the air so that other ARs are extremely hard to pop for new players, or any other players if you're so hellbent into including them into it all.
My AR rou last night was LOTA. First timer bonus. That would be the reason CT is plaguing AR rou. Its the only MSQ mandatory one. Everyone has to do it. Then you have some level cap players who actively avoid all the other ARs for some god awful reason, further dirtying the pool to only CT.

Ah I see, I'm 100% on board, tho I think it should more specifically only field mentors into duties with at least one first timer, with an added higher priority for first timers who are also sprouts or flowers

I look just like the roes next door... if you happen to live next door to an amusement park.

I used to insta-bail when getting Praetorium on this roulette, back when it took 45 minutes to do. Not willing to run a dungeon that long for the minuscule rewards on mentor roulette. Nowadays it's nbd.

The only other insta-bail duty for me (that actually came up fairly regularly) was Ramuh ex. After enough experiences of sticking around for an entire lockout and still not winning, I simply don't trust the doody finder to be able to reliably do that one.

Instantly bailing out of instances you explicitly signed up to do ought to get your crown revoked. If you don't have time for Prae or the patience to give Ramuh EX at least a decent try (I don't think anyone expects anyone to stay the whole lockout if it looks pointless), you shouldn't sign up for them via mentor roulette.

The time penalty for Mentor Rou should be a full day or longer, multiple infractions can be removal of crown, but I do agree. That is not a good example of player etiquette to keep the crown on repeat offenses. (Once in a blue moon, sure life can cause you to leave and take a 30, which is why I say multiple infractions)

Hmm. A whole day is far too long (it's needlessly punishing if you had to leave for legitimate reasons), but I wouldn't object if it were doubled, or maybe tripled, for mentor roulette. Automating kicking mentors out of the role if they bail multiple times might work if the count decayed over time so there's some forgiveness built in. Probably not something the devs would devote any time to, though, since IIRC reporting mentors for behaving that way can have the same effect.

Part of the problem with making the penalty in any way longer is that you aren't just blocking them off roulettes, you are blocking them them from all content through Duty Finder until the penalty expires, it might make people unwilling to touch the roulette if they have plans for later that day, such as Savage statics and so on, because they can't afford the risk of being put in an unwinnable situation such as an EX that won't be cleared no matter what. These are more flaws of the penalty system than anything, but they are still there and should be addressed before any other changes are considered.

Yeah, that's part of why making it excessively long is entirely too punishing. Someone with a legit emergency isn't going to mind a 30 minute (or maybe an hour) penalty, but zorching your whole day is a LOT just because your pet or your kid got into something that may or may not be serious and you have to attend to it now. Is an hour excessive? Maybe, so that's worth thinking about.

I'm not terribly sympathetic though, if someone joined mentor roulette and got into something longer than they thought it would be--that's just part and parcel of the roulette, and it's not the fault of everyone else you're partied with that you can't keep track of time (yeah, I've done this, and apologized when I've had to leave...very much my fault though and I deserved the penalty for it). Most people aren't going to hold hostages though, if it's a hopeless EX and you say you can't stay 30 more minutes so vote to abandon.

Not trying to defend this behavior, but you would need to have the same perspective when you see a third of the players leave crystal tower because they can't stand it anymore. Some are mentors, most are not. So do normal players have the right to leave and mentors do not? Its not like mentors are getting paid, or paying for a cheaper subscription either. They are just players who completed every piece of content once, did their role quests, and got the biggest RNG roulette unlocked. There is nothing special about mentors, so they are not obligated to stay for something they don't find enjoyable, or know better might not work out. There are plenty of cases where sprouts are the ones in the wrong when they do not listen or read the chat. Its a common occurrence in mentor duties. Fynlar mentioned in his original post that he has attempted Ramuh EX many times before he understood its not a easy EX to teach. Do we really have to have the mentality to punish mentors when they are not up for it? Can I ask for a day long penalty if you leave a random dungeon instantly because you don't want to do it? Stop putting mentors in this "You need to do your duty!" spot. Everyone in the entire community needs to have patience for each other; not just mentors.
