MSQ dungeons makes me not want to do mentor roulette.

I know quite a few mentors who just straight up take the 30 if they get any of the three MSQ instances in mentor rolo. Most of them play DPS role just so they don't jeopardize the group if they feel compelled to leave. (Easy to refill compare to tank or healer role.)

That being said, mentor roulette could get some updates. Since MSQ can be done with duty support now; it shouldn't really be a roulette. It something you can do on your own or queue up with your friends with. (The daily rolo reward can be redistribute to other rolos.) However, the same can be said about guildhiests as well. That roulette is quite outdated now, and we have a updated tutorial now. I think mentors should be placed in areas where they are more useful in, and not just occupy people who are semi afk watching something on their other screen. Mentors want to play the game too.

Guildhests as a whole system could be removed from the game and nothing of value would be lost, Guildhest roulette is notably the only roulette that doesn't have scaling XP reward so even that wouldn't be lost at all, it is completely worthless as a reward tool.

I never said anything about changing praetorium unskippable cutscenes or anything specific to the duty itself.
I just said mentor roulette should only field mentors into duties with at least one sprout there. It's there to help sprouts, so what's the point in having it fill other roulettes?

Mentor roulette isn't there to help sprouts. It's there to help everyone. If mentor roulette only fielded someone into a duty with at least one sprout, ALL of your other, regular day to day duty roulettes would slow down, because it would ignore your one mentor/seven regular players in raid, or your one mentor/three regular players in high-end, etc.

Mentor roulette is purely a way to get one single person who has done a crapton of content to backfill any and all available roulettes. That is all it is for, but because it's filled with mentors, the players in it are expected to hold themselves to the mentor standard they agreed to when they joined the mentor program, which means not hitting Prae or an EX and immediately ditching.

This is also why mentor roulette has a mount attached to an achievement involved with doing it a bunch of times. Keeps the roulette wheels turning.

I love getting them on my mentor rous since they're p fast and I can do something else later too. Also, they're required to unlock the mentor rou itself so IDK if SE would want to remove them too.

I understand your point which is very utilitarian in design—and probably what CBU3 also intended—but I still vehemently disagree with it in terms of purpose.

Just because of the prime egregious example given by the OP: you queue for mentor roulette just to help fill for other roulettes. It's ludicrous when you think about it. When will we add another brand new roulette (ultimate roulette) that fills for mentor roulette just in case this one goes too slow too?

How is this egregious? It's literally what Mentor roulette is for. Mentor roulette is the, "I'm queuing for damn near EVERYTHING it is physically possible for which to queue" roulette, including all the other roulettes. Of course it fills MSQ roulette sometimes. I don't find that ludicrous at all. I find it elegant. Albeit a bit personally annoying, too, which is why I don't use mentor roulette unless I'm willing to risk a Prae or a Ramuh EX!

ETA: To be very clear, Mentor roulette queues you for just shy of 300 duties all at the same time. One of those is Prae. Ending up in Prae sometimes is just going to happen. And it will happen more often than ending up in The Minstrel's Ballad: Thordan's Reign (though that's happened too!) because people queue for Prae way more often and it needs another body more often.

Mentor roulette really only goes slow queuing in the middle of the night when everyone is asleep. If it ever gets really slow during prime-time, then there are straight up not enough people playing in Duty Finder to need it. Why would there ever need to be another roulette to fill the roulette that exists to find a player to fill other groups? It IS the 'ultimate' roulette, unless you think there should be one that drops random players into Savages?

You don't just fill roulettes. Any Duty in the Mentor roulette can pop. Windurst needs a DPS? Guess you're helping them out. Windurst is a great example because its not in any roulette, except mentor. If Mentor roulette slows down, then nothing is being qued, essentially.

ARR Extremes make me not want to do mentor roulette, but it is what it is.

Extremes being in mentor roulette is the entire reason I stopped renewing my burger king crown.

yeah without extrem fights i would use mentor roulette a lot more.

would be great if there is a roulette or other system which just puts you into or shows you new players waiting for trials and normal raids to help them out.

dungeons are boring too and they can be done with npc.

and guildhests are just unnecessary they dont offer any fun. and yes its important for the longevity to have fun in a game
