MSQ dungeons makes me not want to do mentor roulette.

I obtained Astrope back in stormblood, so I could not care about the rewards of mentor roulette, nowadays I just do mentor roulette to help people and press buttons, whenever I load into a roulette and see it's praetorium or castrum it makes me want to leave.. Even if it's extreme ARR trials or higher I do not care, because I can be active or teach people which is rewarding on it's own.

This isn't because I want to screw people over who have que'd up for that dungeon, but just because of the very nature of the dungeon it self, +20 minute cutscenes.. that I have seen over 200 times.. just sitting there.. the worst part is that I actually wouldn't be so opposed to it that much if I was actually helping new players complete the dungeon, but majority of the times I just get paired with people who que for it through the Main scenario roulette to get XP.

What value does a mentor bring towards a dungeon where the majority of the content is cutscenes and the content it self is considered (very) easy?

I know people will say don't que up then, but don't be surprised if your que times get extended in the future then because other mentors feel the same and just give up on the roulette.

If any dev is reading this, I know these forums are usually used to voice a complaint like I am doing right now, but also know that I've been playing since mid heavensward and still love the majority of the other work you're doing. So please know while I am expressing this one negative thing, the positive traits still heavily outweigh the few (in my opinion) bad ones. Just wanted to mention that as well.

I don't like getting Praetorium either but it's just part of the luck of the draw. I stopped doing the roulette when I got the mount. I kinda want to do it just to play other jobs again but got to prioritize content I haven't done.

It's about time they slaughtered the sacred cow. Remove the 300 tome stones, and the cut scenes. They're bad anyway, so what is there to lose?
Hearing Nero whine about how Cid stole his cookies when they where childs, or Gaius brag endlessly about how he's the biggest warrior in the universe and beyond... that wasn't good the first time, and repeating it 500+ times did not help to improve.

Do you... think that Gaius is even remotely talking about there? his speech there is genuinely really good, and only his last two lines contain any form of boasting, and only to challenge the Warrior of Light to combat, I make fun of it because I heard it so many times, but it is genuinely really poignant.

I will give it about Nero tho, Nero is a lil bitch until Crystal Tower lets his character hit a stride.

I think the real issue with the roulette is that it doesn't try and check if there is first timers in the player pool.

Mentor roulette SHOULDN'T put you in parties with no first timers. That's the job of other roulettes.
Mentor roulette should get a priority queue for any first timer that's trying to painfully get their msq instance or even their ex trial to pop.

prae and castrum take 20 mins (including cutscenes) since they reworked them. Its not much worse than any other endgame dungeon

I think it's not too bad, does it suck to get them in Mentor, sure, but at the end of the day there's a bunch of story that they'd have to squeeze somewhere else, perhaps they could make them solo instances instead of dungeons? That could be good? But then a lot of people would be sad because the roulette does give a lot of EXP and poetics.

Idk, I think there's upsides and downsides to how it is now and I'm not sure what exactly is the right path forward, solo instances seemed the best, but then for those who do roulettes for EXP they lose a pretty big chunk of daily EXP and poetics.

Same. I stopped doing mentor roulettes as soon as I got the mount. Now if they'd add another one...then I'd probably start doing them again :P.
