I am very short of space, yesterday both my retainers were 110/110 and I had 20 free spaces. And its not just being a pack rat, all the stuff I need for crafting.

In the short term an extra retainer would do. I am getting to the stage where I am willing to pay the monthly fee just so I can get another retainer (or 2). In the long term some kind of player/guild housing with storage would be best. Guild storage would be excellent as some of the stuff I have is due to me being the LS Alchemist and having to hold all the dyes, reagents and stuff for when it is needed.

I am reluctant to get an alt as it is awkward to transfer between characters unless you dual-box and I don't have a second computer to run the game on.

Right now I would say that storage is really important, at elast for the moment as the games popularity drops untill there are more stuff to do, finding people who can make new armor gets a bit harder, and repairing your own gear while was always more useful, becomes more and more important as the chances of finding someone in the field that can repair might not always be possible. And as mentioned before fatigue plays a big part in it all.

I had like 20 slots of iron ore of various grades and types *liominte, iron ore, iron sand* and that took me about 5-8 hours to go through and get 1-2 levels of blacksmithing. Same with carpentry, you need alot of supplies to level up, and if your like me and gather your own supplies to cut down on costs, you need to store up alot, so your not just going back and crafting for 30 mins before you have to go back out and get more. Also you run into stuff like with alchemy and fishing, catching bone crayfish, I end up with twice as much crimson crayfish and other 40 alchemy that I'm only just now starting to be able to use with 60% success rate *But fail comes out to the exp of bone so worth it* If you could just hunt for iron ore it be simple, or pine logs and such space wouldn't matter so much, but you get so much extra material that you will need later on or for other crafts at the same time that like I said with the dye material, getting 1 type of moss brings you 6-9 more. Or logging brings you 3-5 more log types and so on.

You're making an incorrect assumption here. I level 4 crafts seriously and another 2 crafts as secondary (I forgot Miner and Botanist as well). In addition, I have 3 DoW/DoM classes. And I think inventory space is pretty generous. As Dreamer said, Inventory management is part of the game.

It is you being a pack rat. That's not an insult, it's just a description of your tendency to be frugal. But, I guarantee you that you don't need all 220 spaces for your crafting. What you are doing is saving and/or buying stuff that you think you "might" need further down the road or something. And I bet you're also saving old materials that you don't use anymore, but you are saving for "if I need it."

As I stated before, no MMO will ever give you "enough" space if you save everything you collect. But, you two can rest assured that when the game becomes P2P, you'll have as much space as you're willing to pay for. You'll be able to essentially buy 110 spaces for $1 per month. That's better than some of the MMOs out there that charge for inventory space.
