    Honestly I think they should have implemented a bonus more rewarding then the current one... if I took the time/expense to find 4 HQ items for a HQ synth I would not normally expect to start with a 0% chance of HQ ??? as it makes no sense...

    At least let it start with 15% chance of HQ and lower it depending on the % of HQ items per synth
    eg. 75% (or more but less then 100%) of your ingredients are HQ =10% chance to start with.

    Because really... what sort of a high ranked crafts person buys excellent supplies only to create the usual blah?

    At OP. I was surprised too. They must of changed their mind along the way and never mentioned it. I do think the system is decent now though.

    I thought if you use all HQ items you start off with '500' or so quality (so more than 0% chance, not a high chance, but still more than 0% chance). And that's without actually doing a synth. Versus having no HQ Items, and doing a bunch of synths and still having 0% chance ^.^:

    I don't even understand the point of this complaint anyway. All players are more or less equal when it comes to chance of making HQ items (gap is skills you have). Therefore if the average chance to make something HQ is 10%, 50%, 80% or 90%, then the final price on the market will be adjusted according to how hard making HQ is.

    If HQ mats = HQ item (100%) and all HQ mats worth 1M, then the final product will worth a little more than 1M, since "anyone" with the leveled craft and able to purchase the mat will be able to craft it.

    Now if the HQ rate with amazing crafting skills is ~50%, so expect the final price to be above 2M, to make it up for the lower success rate.

    In the end it doesn't matter what kind of success rate SE is picking. It was exactly the same with FF XI, you could clearly see a different in price between HQ tier 0 and HQ tier 1 items. The success rate is reflected into the final price, crafters always "win". What's even better in XIV is that thanks to skills, veteran crafters will have better odds to make HQ items, thus making more profits than someone with only one craft trying to HQ.
