I am happy to see certain aesthetics 'returning'. Such as the animation/efffects seen in Arcadion M12, The Sandworm enemies in Mistwake, Doomtrain (major props) and a few other enemies. Just old school, dare I say ARR-style, fangy/gross/slimey/explodey/muhahaha type stuff. I hate to say it but the game has been 'tame' for so long with default grab bag enemies in yet another temple or castle or whatever, just standard platformer stuff. With the story now having gotten certain necessary plot arcs completed and resolved, I hope this aesthetic trend grows/ continues and features throughout 8.0 in as much a creative way as possible theme wise. Locations that feel hazardous/toxic and/or dangerous just to be there, aswell as enemies you'd rather not come anywhere near you. It can't all be like that, but it should be a frequent theme again. I think we can put away the lab/needle themes now though.

For instance, I really like Urianger, Feo Ul, and Erenville. The more of them I see, the happier I am.
I want to have a expanion where the main Scions with us are Thancred, Urianger, Y'shotla, and Estinen. More old school Scions are going out on the adventure, and of course, Estinen for good measure. I'd just like a story expansion away from the Twins and G'raha for once. To finally see Mericidya is something I want, we've only had very small info on that country, and it's a place the fanbase has wanted to see for a long time now.

    >What NPCs do you want to see more of?
the black mage quest ones, of course tricky to do because knowing them is tied to black mage, and it's similar story with most other NPCs I want to see more of, even if they're from MSQ they're tied up in side quests, I think they could have gotten away with including Arenvald in cosmic exploration though
    >What aesthetic have they touched on that you want them to swing back to?
I wanna see them explore Eorzea as a land starting to be exposed to advanced tech from half a dozen different sources
    >What game mechanic was introduced that you would like to play more of?
Not so much a mechanic not used as a mechanic I think deliberately avoided after the 1 or 2 times they did it early on but tank swaps in normal content, if not in normal trails at least in normal raids
    >What places do you want them to revisit with more content?
Xak Tural, South America was a wash but there's still potential in North America

What NPCs do you want to see more of?
Definitely Krile, she’s probably my favorite at this point, though I love Alisaie and Y’shtola as well. And Thancred and Urianger have been in the background for awhile, maybe they could come along as bodyguards for the next chapter. lol

What dungeon/Trial really did it for you?
Doomtrain felt really creative (haven’t done the Ex yet), and I like M12N too. Currently running the latter on loop for the music.

What aesthetic have they touched on that you want them to swing back to?
I agree with RedLolly’s sentiment about something Nordic… if we’re going somewhere cold it doesn’t have to be colorless. I was also really pleased by the choice of Il Mheg for the deep dungeon this time around.

Maybe not aesthetically, but thematically, I’d like to get away from the super high-tech vibe and focus more on magic, mysticism and high fantasy. I’m hoping the key leads to that somehow.

What places do you want them to revisit with more content?
I don’t know about “revisit,” but I want to see Meracydia someday soon, even though I know it won’t be 8.0. That’s the place I’m most excited to see.

In the spirit of revisiting places we’ve already been, I’d like to see more Variant dungeons to fill that exploration of the little nooks and crannies of Eorzea. The Variants are probably my favorite “new” thing, and I really wish we got one per patch.

What do I want to see more of in general?
More glam and hairstyles added, more often, and dual dyeable from the get-go. More glam dresser/armoire improvements, hopefully moving towards an actual catalog. More housing improvements, even beyond the ones already planned and delayed for 3 patches now. And of course, Levi, Shiva and Ramuh as gem summons!

What NPCs do you want to see more of?
Surprise surprise, I want to go on that adventure we promised G'raha. A meaningful one- like how we got to go on an adventure with Alphinaud, Estinien, and Ysayle for Heavensward. The last third of Dawntrail did not count for me. He (along with the rest of the crew) were cardboard cutouts behind the Wuk Lamat show. He would make for an excellent returning companion going forward and I want him to be with us in 8.0. Given that he has so many unaddressed loose ends, it makes sense to me. What about his familial ties in Corvos? That dialogue in 5.4 about him someday losing his Allagan eye (implying losing access to the Crystal Tower)? Will we ever see that happen? Will he have an identity crisis if the gang needs the Crystal Tower for something and he can no longer use it, ergo he might feel useless or incomplete and need to overcome that? If he loses his Allagan eyes while we're in Corvos? Endwalker very briefly touched upon his feelings about not knowing who he was after the merge in 5.4. It feels like, despite him getting a lot of spotlight, he suffered from cut content that would have tied up loose ends such as these. And if the rumors of Endwalker being a fusion of two expac stories is true, where Corvos was intended to be a zone, it's such a shame that it was dropped entirely. (Also, tacking on at the end- he's an all rounder, so he's a solid choice to keep around for Trusts. Some argue that Trusts are killing the MMO, but I argue it's instead future proofing the game for single-player when the servers go offline someday.)

7.0 did not enchant me with Krile, mainly because she was a side character in the expansion advertised as her story. It feels like 7.1 and onward are hasty add-ons to expand on characters that needed more time in the oven, like how Gulool Ja and Koana were handled in 7.1. That said, 7.4 is the juggernaut for Krile that we were lacking and it won me over into liking her a lot. I just wish we got to know her better! I hope 7.4 isn't the only place she gets to shine. I'd be happy if she came along for 8.0- given she's not sidelined again. And I know she and G'raha make for excellent road companions as they basically grew up together. Which, by the way, the writers either ignore or forget about. I wish Krile had more to do in the story, as well. What she did in that instanced duty with her Pictomancy was very cute, I want more of that. If they're going to put her in the new job, let her expand on why she chose artistry! Can she bond with Lumull and Eyaney more please?

Y'shtola... I feel like since she was first put into the game, the story just does not know what to do with her. She's been around since 1.0 and still feels like she's a flat character. I like her concept! I like her design! And I see that the writers are trying to get her to look into the camera and say directly to the player that she wants to be the Shard Travel and the Interdimensional Key expert. But please, if she sticks around, do something with her. I think I would like it best if she remained involved with the Thirteenth. She was featured in Warring Triad, who featured characters FROM THE THIRTEENTH that she tactfully does not mention at all in the 6.1+ patches. There are characters that I think needed to appear for post-Endwalker that just did not. If we got Gaia to make a cameo in MSQ, Estinien becoming a Scion, Crystal Tower becoming mandatory for Shadowbringers, why not involve Unukalhai and Cylva? (Bonus: Krile and Urianger were also present for this side story!) Y'shtola also got along super well with Zero. And I want to see Zero again someday.

Sphene is a wonderful addition and I'm sad she's probably staying behind in Solution 9. Same goes for the lalas in Treno. It feels like we're saying goodbye to a cast of characters that we only just now met. Lumull and Eyaney are very fun additions that I wish could return someday. Shale is also a really nice character, though I don't feel we need more of her.

Erenville should come back in some way, too. He was a really refreshing character that went against the mold. I like how he just Will Not Fight anything and will just leave. It would be awesome if he stuck around and was like... the Beastmaster teacher. Which I hope is what is being set up!

What dungeon/Trial really did it for you?
Dawntrail was just a series of bangers, to be honest. I can't pick any of them to be significantly better than the other. Though I echo the dislike for the.... "Interruption" during Queen Eternal. I like bosses that shake up the gimmick, like the one with the gaolers. That was fun.

What aesthetic have they touched on that you want them to swing back to?
Coming out of left field? Alexander. I love love love steampunk when I see it. I'm tired of the high tech we've been exposed to for the last several years. I would love more cogs and gears and steam powers bits and bobs. Hell, maybe they can borrow from FF7 and FF13 for the aesthetics. Let us be eco-terrorists with technology straight out of the 90's. I would love to beat up evil corporations whose only goal is profit margins. No reason in particular.

I loved the aesthetics of the Thirteenth. I love the magic side of FF, so I also wouldn't mind swinging back to that classic fantasy feel. I loved Shadowbringers because it was a complete genre shift from the gritty, politcal jargon of ARR, Heavensward, and Stormblood. Everything in the First just felt more mystical and grand, like a storybook fantasy. I loved that so much.

What game mechanic was introduced that you would like to play more of?
I actually liked Island Sanctuary, and feel like this needed to be expanded on. I also liked the puzzle solving segment in 7.3 MSQ, though it did overstay its welcome and was just a matter of reading notes. I say this as a pre-BotW/TotK Zelda fan who remembers how fun and satisfying it was to complete temples. If this was innovated on, perhaps in side content, it would be fun for me.

What places do you want them to revisit with more content?
I think this was covered above, but the Thirteenth should be revisited sometime. And Corvos. I am happy to see we are getting to explore a storybook version of it, but I want to go to the real place in MSQ.

What NPCs do you want to see more of?
New characters that are written well. Most of my favorite NPCs are either canonically dead (Ardbert, Ysayle, Yotsuyu, Ilberd) or have no reason to make more appearance for the moment (Riol, the unnamed Keeper of the Entwined Serpent, Lucia, Hilda), and that is perfectly fine to me - better than dozen that's brought into 7.0 because the writer were afraid to piss off these characters' fanbase. If they want to bring back old characters, then give them a sound, believable reason why they're tagging along with us. Trust NPCs be damned; why can't we call upon the aid of those Scion NPCs from ARR/HW support duties when the Thancred, Y'shtola, G'raha and co. were not available if that is what they're concerned of?

Let the big scion guys have their vacation lol, so that other characters can get their time to breathe (and us, in extension!).

What dungeon/Trial really did it for you?
Tam-Tara Deepcroft (Hard), Pharos Sirius, The Heroes' Gauntlet, Amaurot, Storm's Crown, & The Dancing Plague.

What aesthetic have they touched on that you want them to swing back to?
I think we're at the point where we have pretty diverse selection of aesthetic, it's hard to say which one I'd like to have. That being said, I think more tribal/wild looking glamours that are dyeable would be nice because few notable ones like Pagl'than, Riverbreath, Woad, and Warg sets has remained undyeable and hasn't gotten their dyeable variant since forever.

What game mechanic was introduced that you would like to play more of?
Job gameplay that actually rewards quick thinking, split second decision making, and not-so-static rotation that doesn't conforms the rigidity that is 2m window. How's that "MuCh BeTtEr BaLaNcE fRoM h0m0gEn1zAtIoN" coming so far after 6 years, btw? Lmao.

If we're talking about other than job gameplay, then quests like "In From the Cold" was fantastic. Seasonal events like that one two-player instance from Valentione was also neat. Then there's the whole working of Field Operations where you get to have a library of actions that you can flexibly customize that tailors to your own liking and/or needs. Only exists in Eureka & Bozja. No, I don't count OC's "Phantom Jobs Cooldowns" lol, they're overtly restrictive & safe, possibly in an attempt to strike that balance between that & making them as accessible as possible.

What places do you want them to revisit with more content?
Not so much of a revisit, but there was an idle musing from years ago when they introduced variant dungeon, I was thinking we could maybe get one with Kan-E Senna so we can finally see what remains of the destroyed West Shroud other than just T6.

Give me MORE of those 1.0. lore plsss xD

What NPCs do you want to see more of?
None actually. I want new characters that are written good. Not the twins (god I am tired of Alisaie) or G'Raha again and again.
I want characters that I get to know and that actually respect that I play a video game with my own character and uses them to develop their own personality.
So in short, a Sphene and not a Wuk Lamat.

What dungeon/Trial really did it for you?
For Trials I really liked Dancing Plague and Valigarmanda for the gameplay.
Zodiark as well as a big surprise boss.
For dungeons it's Halatalli Hard mode for giving us actual NPC enemies in interesting fights as well as Heroes Gauntlet for the sheer story behind it.

What aesthetic have they touched on that you want them to swing back to?
I usually prefer more tribal or fantasy like aesthetics like HW or past Alexandria or the beast tribe places and had really hoped that DT gave us more of the tribal like things in gear design.
That said, I don't mind futuristic ones as well and actually do like Solution 9. It was something new for a change.
I want them to do really new things though, something completely out of the norm and fantastical.
I play Genshin on the side and the sheer impact of it's fantastical places like Enkanomiya or Remuria are just awesome. I really wished FFxiv would make each expansion more unique in it's setting as well. We even have different Shards that could explain it. Amaurot was actually a pretty good example.

What game mechanic was introduced that you would like to play more of?
The puzzles from the last patch. Screw story skippers. They shouldn't be the ones the MSQ in the story-MMO caters to.
Put in a skip for all I care but don't go "we can't do that so often because there are people who want to rush to the fights". That's absolutely disrespectful towards a big part of your playerbase when there are options to make both sides happy.

What places do you want them to revisit with more content?
At maximum ARR and it's city states with some new zones but not much.

I don't want more of the same even when I like it.
I want surprises, unique things and content I can actually connect to their expansions.

I have to wonder if the (rightful) backlash to this is why we didn't get the interruption from brute people actually wanted against the Lindwurm, there was the perfect time for it in the regeneration and then they just didn't take it

Agreed, but one thing I would stress is I want to avoid being left with the feeling of why don't I just use my incredible magical/martial power to beat down this door
