Thancred's new face

Their stated intent with the graphic update was to give us the characters we love, only higher quality. In the cases where they didn’t live up to that, players have every reason to complain and request changes.

The characters - both PCs and NPCs - are a huge part of what makes this game appealing to a large chunk of the fan base. It should be a priority to fulfill that stated intent.

They're a company. Nobody is bullying them by giving feedback and asking them to change stuff. Genuinely I'm pretty sure they themselves asked for feedback about this kinda thing when they did the update.

I am really hoping they loop back into fixing his face to look like himself again. <3

Happy Starlight season everyone. Let's keep fighting for Thancred in 2026 and keep pushing for changes to his face! He must be saved!

A big thank you to everyone who continues to keep this issue bumped and in the spotlight; if there's one good thing that has come out of this it's meeting with all of you guys and knowing there are other people out there who care about this fantastic character!

Still really hoping Thancred gets the update he deserves, and gets his unique face sculpt back again!

2) We're nearly at 100,000 views of this thread!
Thank you to everyone who has supported this - the huge number of views shows the interest in the issue and I am hoping this means we will see change!

3) Both this thread and the 'Save Thancred' site are now on the top page of results upon a Google search for 'Thancred'!



Again, this shows just how much they have both been visited! People do care! We will keep bumping this and making sure it's known that we still want to fight for Thancred to have his original look restored.

Yunas face is different in Dissidia to FFX. A lot of characters faces are. It's not necessarily taking anyone's identity away.
I loved Diao Chan in Dynasty Warriors 6 Face the most! I do understand actually. Because when they changed her face. I was like awww... no!
But looking back at it. It's all down to preference and it's not necessarily bad.

BUT, if we get upset over someone's object. Meaning what they look like.. what does that really say about us?

That they cannot be them if they look different?
I don't think that's a fair or healthy perspective. To emotionally regulate ourselves based on someones aesthetic.

I don't see a bigggg difference. Just his features are softer. But! Yknow tell me to shooshie shoosh if you must. I know I am an old soul.

But I'm just saying!! ^^;;

The problem is that Thancred has just been changed into a generic Midlander 1 face. This does not fit with the outlined aim of the graphical update - to keep the characters we "know and love". It's the same reason people are responding so strongly to their own player characters changing, and the same reason that there is a big outcry about the possible changing of G'raha's voice actor. All of these things - the face, the voice - are a part of why we love the character. Not the only part - I am still happy to see more from Thancred at the end of the day because I adore his writing and personality - but they are a key part. If we've been told we're getting one thing and receive another, we have a right to complain as customers - especially as we had no chance at all to feed back on this before the changes were implemented.

Additionally, to a lot of us, his looks are really intrinsic to his actual character traits! To quote someone on the Save Thancred site:
"Part of the appeal of the main cast is how unique they are and how much they stand out against other NPCs. To strip any of them of that uniqueness to make them look like anyone else defeats part of the purpose. His eyes told us so much about him. A man who's struggled to cope with immeasurable grief, who works himself a bit too hard, a bit grizzled and a bit tired, yet focused and unwaveringly determined all the same. He appealed to me because he was so humanly flawed."

It's something that's really important to us, and we're going to keep fighting for it. And I think that determination and spirit says a lot about us! It's important to fight for things you care about, especially in this day and age!
