    Occult Crescent Gear

    After looking at the stat bonuses for the new accessories in OC my question is why is it so freaking BORING? If I'm getting this right an entire fully upgraded left side amounts to a ~12% damage increase and the entire right side amounts to ~5%. Who would even bother grinding so much for such a measly one-role bonus outside of people participating in SUPPOSEDLY illicit parsing activities!?!?

    It doesn't need to be anything insane but come the freak on at least make it do SOMETHING different so it feels worthwhile. This is silly one-off side content it doesn't need to be as balanced as the rest of the game.

    Why can't the Time Mage gear give a bunch of swiftcast charges? Or drastically increase the length of DoTs and HoTs? Or give a passive cooldown reduction?

    Why can't the Berserker gear give you a big fat boost to your health pool and some lifesteal? Or a damage boost when it gets low? Or make you immune to knockbacks and certain status effects in CEs?

    Hell why can't I take my weapon from the new extreme and have a haste/movement speed boost that ramps the longer a fight goes on? Or the weapon from the one before that give a small chance to doom trash mobs?

    Where is the CREATIVITY? Where is the PASSION? WHERE ARE THE RPG ELEMENTS!?!?

    It's like the +10 stat grinds in Bozja. They exist for only one type of player. People who like huge grinds. They know most players will ignore it and not do it.

    These stats don’t even appeal to those players (I know I am one) because rays and elemental armour allowed you to play the game fundamentally differently because haste changed your rotation and defence meant you can play the jobs in odd ways being more defensive than you should be

    Having each accessory or piece of gear be 0.9% damage and nothing else is boring and pointless ESPECIALLY when its own effect is minimised by the fact that even if you have full +2 gear and all 5 accessories you are still getting more relative damage from passive mastery stacks

    As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.

    I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess

    I disagree. The medals grind did give you a huge bonus. First of all, it gave survavibility to dps. Here it just does not, nothing boost your hp or defense, you stay very squishy. Honestly, the bonus gave so much edge I could Tank DRN as a summoner, while also being the heal of the team in giving 100k health back to the whole team. the medals changed so much in the grind.

    Gear barely change anything. Sure you hit a little harder, but medals madals and logos/lost action made the whole thing fun. Here phantom jobs are at best a gimmick, at worst useless, and the whole thing is just kinda boring. And that's coming from someone who farmed every Eureka and ShB relics.

    I have to say the addition of Ultra potion made the survavibility a litte better, but you still can get killed only by raid wides if your heal sucks or there is no heal in your party (something you don't have any kind of control). I'm not gonna push further (I already made a thread on why I though OC was a miss), but this is another miss for me. I'm really curious about the japanese reaction to thos drop-rates.

    And that's not even talking about the stupid (only 20 people can get pot fate). Everything in OC is made to get frustrated.

    Having a huge bonus or a little bonus on damage is boring, period. The amount isn't magically gonna make it funnier.

    Fully agree with OP. They could go whack with that kind of content yet they don't. The best we've had were lost actions and logograms, that's about it. Gear in Eureka and Bozja was miserably tedious and boring. Actually ironically, even if the stats were boring because substats, one piece of content that did looting better was Diadem 1.0, even if the rest was just not it, change my mind.

    I agree that the gear has been boring so far. It is simply more damage and while more damage is nice... I wish there was something else. I wish we got haste, at least, to have crazier rotations.

    However, if they are not going to do this, at least give us some sort of healing/defense bonus for non-tanks from gear, items similar to the Eureka sustaining potions, or other sources.

    CEs can become quite miserable as a DPS if no one heals or shields you, since taking even a single vulnerability stack can kill you whereas tanks are fully immune to this problem. They do not even need to be in a party because they are completely self-sufficient and can generate lots of enmity quickly for gold rank in FATEs. As a result, tanks are often solo while non-tanks end up in parties with less than 8 members, which greatly reduces their survival and forces them to play perfectly all the time or risk dying and being on the floor for minutes if no one can resurrect. Some CEs outright kill you over time even if playing well (e.g. the berserker, mythic idol, and purple bird ones) due to featuring lots of raidwide attacks in succession.

    If you need further proof of this, just check the adventurer list when you get inside: it is quite common for the majority of an instance to be populated by tanks (WAR and PLD specifically), with healers being quite scarce. This issue did not exist in Eureka or Bozja because you had defensive options, some of which were decent for damage, such as Essence of the Beast combined with Lost Assassination.

    So the accessories are a tiny damage boost, and no defense or added survival ability for casuals who might want to run FTB? What’s the point?

    OC was closed on patch day, so I went in a few days later to check out the new jobs… two of which are purchasable again. Do they really think anyone wants to gold farm at this point? Or run the same handful of Fates over and over again, for a second time? Either FTB should have had a Normal mode (I will never get over that), or they should’ve split the content into 3 zones for some more variety. I’ll level the 3 new jobs for the completionist in me, but I can’t say I’m looking forward to it, at all.

    I leveled up the three new jobs. While they may have some utility for FT raiders, as a solo player they're very boring and add nothing to my existing options. I don't find mob farming for gold fun (I loved cluster farming in Bozja, but this is a much worse experience), I'm glad the pot coffers were changed to give gold instead of worthless gil but they're too unreliable to use as a farm method. So I've given up on upgrading gear to +1, not that there's much point to doing so anyway. The accessories are not interesting at all, in either their stats or in the obscene grind to get them.

    And we still have no idea what the droprate is from the CEs.

    I think the droprates are good. Having a 50m drop from a bronze chest is a nice thing to have. "Casuals" dont need them anyway, so they can luck a good bunch of gil out of it

    the thrill of randomly getting 50m makes opening the chests or doing CEs atleast 1000 times more interesting
